At Gulf Shores Counseling Center we provide individual, family and couples counseling services to children, adolescents, adults and seniors. Our therapists, in combination, have over 25 years of experience in treating all mental health disorders. Our practice participates with most major commercial insurance plans as well as Medicaid, Medicare and many EAP plans so that our counseling services are affordable and easy to access. I appreciate your taking the time to consider me to be your psychologist. I come to you with over 30 years of experience. I had been in a private practice in NJ and recently relocated to Florida. My focus is individual psychotherapy. I utilize what I would call a compassionate form of cognitive-behavioral psychotherapy with an emphasis on mindfulness based concepts. I do not believe in a one size fits all approach and will find the orientation and techniques that work for you as an individual.

I served 29 years as a chaplain in the Army reserves, state-side and overseas, helping military personnel and their families. I have extensive training and experience in treatment for those who have been traumatized, or sexually abused, and who are registered sex offenders.

I have been a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in practice for over 14 years. I received my BA in Psychology and a MA in Mental Health Counseling. I have worked in community mental health with adolescents and adults dealing with trauma, grief, depression, anxiety, anger, as well as communication and interpersonal relationships issues. I am certified in trauma & grief and utilize CBT & EMDR. I believe it is critical to find the right approach that meets your individual needs and we will work together towards your goals. I have over thirty years of experience in treating difficult couples and challenging family cases. I completed my initial graduate school training at the renowned Brown School of Social Work at Washington University in St. Louis. I completed advanced structured sex therapy training at the Masters and Johnson Institute in St. Louis. My training is extensive, including taking a post-graduate medical school rotation in psychiatry at the University of Minnesota. In addition to treatment, I conduct Custody Evaluations, Parenting Coordination, Divorce Mediation, Expert Testimony and Infertility Evaluation and Consultation.

My focus is on helping patients and families who are struggling with anxiety, depression, Cancer, Dementia, and other physical pain and illness. I am a trained Gestalt Therapist and work in the here and now using mindfulness, a combination of wellness models, and solution-focused intention. I believe that 'if nothing changes, nothing changes,' so psychotherapy is crucial to good health.
