Couples and parents face many challenges, not just in raising children, but in their adult relationships as well. Anxiety, stress, conflict, and difficult past experiences can affect the way we show up in the world for ourselves and for each other. Gradual work in understanding these experiences in a therapeutic and judgement free environment will help improve sense of self, strengthen relationships, reduce conflict, and increase confidence in the future.

You feel isolated from the world and worry that no one will understand what you're going through. You can’t shake the constant thoughts about being different than others and wonder why things are harder for you than you think they should be. As a clinician with lived experience of participating in therapy, I know firsthand how hard it can be to take that leap of faith. I bring warmth and openness to a therapeutic process that keeps you in the driver's seat, always. With a person-centered, direct, and trauma-informed clinical style, I will take the time and space necessary to build a safe and trusting relationship with you.

Come as you are. Psychotherapy is a safe and private place to explore the issues preventing you from living a more productive, meaningful, happier life. I'm aware that it takes an incredible amount of courage to walk into a therapy room and share things that require great vulnerability. My approach is person-centered, empathic and flexible, meeting clients where they are in their lives and helping them to identify and work on areas they would like to change or explore. I utilize supportive, mindfulness based and existential therapies with some use of CBT and thoughtfully inserted levity.

I work at Metropolitan Psychology Group and specialize in helping adults and couples struggling with relationship difficulties, depression, anxiety, grief, and the impact of traumatic experiences.
Therapy offers the opportunity to speak about that which may feel unspeakable, shameful, or muddled. The dual process of speaking and observing what emerges is useful for confronting a range of challenges and symptoms. Through careful listening and interpretation, I aim to foster insight and curiosity about your inner world. Over time, patterns emerge that invite exploration and open up the possibility for changes to be made.

In my current practice I see individuals struggling with depression, anxiety, grief, self esteem and survivors of sexual abuse and trauma.
Therapy can be a powerful part of the healing process. I feel honored to witness that process when working with individuals seeking help to deal with difficult life circumstances. I strive to create an environment where a person can feel safe and comfortable discussing their struggles. My approach is collaborative and seeks to draw out an individual's strengths allowing them to better address their concerns and feel more at ease in their everyday life.

I offer my support as someone who has loved animals my whole life, am a pet owner myself, and have personally and professionally experienced the loss of amazing animals.
Our pets are often knit into the very fabric of our lives. When you have loved and lost, there can be an emptiness, a wound, that few words can describe. Not all understand the pain that comes from losing your four-legged family member. Sometimes all you need is a safe space and a willing ear to share your experience, acknowledge the heaviness in your heart, and provide you with support and coping strategies for moving forward. We never move on, those animals that share our life remain with us always, but we can find peace, joy, and hope once again.

I have experience working with many people and challenges- but I gravitate to & work best with adults who are experiencing anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, life changes, trauma, grief, bereavement, intimate partner violence, fertility, pregnancy, adoption, first responders, seniors, & those who identify as LGTBQI+.
Not currently accepting new clients ...... Welcome! It can be hard to recognize that you might have parts of your life that you have pushed aside or are uncomfortable with. It takes a lot of courage to acknowledge this & then to take the steps to reach out to someone for assistance. I believe in working as a partner with people to explore areas that cause difficulty, to build upon solutions that have previously worked, & to learn new skills to improve one's ability to cope. I enjoy getting to know the people I work with & finding solutions that are unique to them.

I work with adults, adolescents and families who are struggling with anxiety, depression or interpersonal problems. My approach to therapy is eclectic since different people require different types of interventions. However, my primary approaches include psychodynamic and cognitive behavior therapy. I try to create a warm and understanding relationship where my patients can feel free to examine their own lives and find some helpful ways of responding to their problems.

Grief Therapists

How long does therapy take for grief?

There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.

When should you seek therapy for grief?

Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.

Can grief be managed without therapy?

Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.

What happens if grief is left untreated?

Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
