I draw from different modalities I have been trained in, such as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), to support clients with trauma, transitions, anxiety, attachment, depression, perinatal mood disorders, and grief.
Transitioning through life can feel challenging, especially when we're not sure of our ability to handle changes with confidence. Difficulty navigating changes can negatively impact our relationship with ourselves and others. I work with children, young adult, and adult clients who are struggling with ineffective patterns that impede their quality of life. In therapy, I support clients in discovering effective strategies to manage distressing emotions, cope with current stressors, gain insights, and build resilience. We work together to understand your history and the patterns you would like to shift.

I’m a queer, neurodivergent mother of twins and my lived experience with perinatal loss, birth trauma, NICU parenting, being postpartum in 2020, and perinatal mental health disorders drew me to this work.
Why did no one warn you about how hard the transition to parenthood was going to be? You often feel that you’re not doing a “good enough” job and wonder why other parents seem to have it all figured out. You may not have had the pregnancy, birth, or postpartum experience that you wanted. You love your baby more than anything but you don’t always love being a parent.

My passion and experience lies in working with artists and creatives, individuals from the BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ community, women, and perinatal mental health with a special emphasis on anxiety.
We all have the capacity for healing through self-discovery, self-awareness, and community building. I guide clients on a journey to authenticity in creative works and expression, fostering relationships with their "parts" and others, and exploring compassion and empathy for parts that are out of alignment with "self energy." With a strengths-based, trauma-informed approach, I create a safe, collaborative space to explore the inner self. As a warm, intuitive therapist, I'm here to witness your transformative journey.

Are you feeling stuck? People come to me for a lot of different reasons but usually they describe feeling stuck in some way despite their best efforts to shift things. Maybe you are in a crisis or dealing with a transition, maybe your relationships are complex and dissatisfying. Whatever your reason for reaching out, I work to create a non-judgmental environment so that whatever parts of your story need attention can be effectively explored in ways that are powerful and meaningful to you.

Pregnancy, Prenatal, Postpartum Therapists

What are the most effective ways to address pregnancy, prenatal, and postpartum concerns?

The most effective way to address pregnancy, prenatal, and postpartum concerns is by finding a therapist who has prior experience helping other patients overcome the challenge being faced. For example, a marriage and family therapist may have experience helping couples adjust to their new relationship dynamic. An anxiety specialist may have experience helping with phobias or illness anxiety related to the child’s health. A depression specialist may have experience treating postpartum depression.

When should I seek treatment for prenatal or postpartum concerns?

Pregnancy and the postpartum period involve intense physical and mental changes; a degree of upset and instability is normal. However, if these changes impair daily functioning, it may be time to seek help. This distinction is pertinent for postpartum depression: A period of teariness, irritability, and distress is difficult but normal in the one to two weeks after childbirth (sometimes called the “baby blues.”) But if feelings of sadness and hopelessness persist beyond that period, the person should seek treatment.

How do I manage worries during pregnancy or the postnatal period?

A therapist can help patients develop the tools they need to manage anxieties during or after pregnancy. Cognitive behavioral therapy can help people identify and reframe harmful patterns of thought, and change their behaviors. Other techniques and skills can allow people to develop acceptance, psychological flexibility, self-compassion, communication skills, and more.

Are there specific medications for postpartum depression?

In 2019, the FDA approved the first medication designed to treat postpartum depression. The medication is called brexanolone and is delivered intravenously by a medical professional over the course of a few days. However, typical antidepressants, which are more accessible, can also treat postpartum depression. The disorder is often best treated through a combination of medication and therapy.
