My focus areas are: Trauma • Bipolar Disorder • PTSD • Anxiety & Depression • Chronic illness • DID • Addiction • Psychedelic Preparation and Integration • Psychedelic Harm Reduction.
I am passionate about helping people find meaning and purpose in their lives, and helping them identify ways that conscious and unconscious traits and habits impact functioning and relationships. By exploring how you relate to yourself and to the world around you, you can build a life that is informed by past experience, not trapped by it. As a trained meditation teacher I integrate mindfulness and other meditation techniques where appropriate. My trauma work is integrative. While I do not condone the use of controlled substances, I endorse harm reduction practices and enjoy working with psychedelic preparation and integration.

Life transitions and struggles offer the opportunity to find greater clarity of purpose, more meaningful relationships, increased confidence, and personal satisfaction. We are in a global crisis; we need new emotional/spiritual/physical resources, inner connections, and relationships. Psychotherapy can help you adjust to the "new normal" and to heal new and old wounds and fears. I work with individuals in life transitions, those who have experienced trauma/abuse, who want to live and age more mindfully, and/or who need to grieve losses. I can also help you learn to have more fulfilling relationships or leave relationships that are no longer working. When stressed, people sometimes find that they don't have a strong foundation. In a counseling relationship, you can learn to rebuild one.

I have bridged my specialized training as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with trauma-informed treatment models, specifically Internal Family Systems and Brainspotting, to provide personalized care.
Over the past 17 years, I have worked with clients as they address the impact of trauma, challenging life situations, and grief. My clients have often faced some of the most difficult experiences imaginable, and our work together is focused on resolving these traumas, developing a better understanding of themselves, and creating a more fulfilling life. This can often be done without reliving painful memories, but with a focus on releasing burdens and working toward internal integration and harmony.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
