When children struggles with their feelings, the whole family feels it. Whether they have big emotional displays, are fighting back, acting out, or shutting down, parents can end up struggling, too. I provide therapy for children ages 3-12 in the form of play therapy, which is therapy that's tailored for each child to meet them where they're at developmentally.

I am an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist. I am here to help you better understand yourself, your relationships, and how you show up in those relationships. I have a warm and collaborative therapeutic style, and use curiosity and compassion to help clients discover new ways of thinking. I work from a strength-based lens to meet clients where they are and support them as they grow. I provide a nonjudgmental and safe therapeutic environment for my clients, and my ultimate goal is for my clients of all identities to feel seen, heard, and understood.

My ideal client is someone who doesn’t have all the answers. Let me explain, Many know the presenting problem bringing them to counseling. They can identify this is why I’m here, this is why I’m coming to you. What an ideal client of mine may not know is if someone will understand what there going through, that I will know exactly how to help, or that the I have any experience in what goes through their thoughts and how they feel at all. Maybe there’s a fear of invalidation, of being misunderstood, being rejudged. These are the buildings blocks in a therapeutic plan and healing journey!

I work with individuals from all walks of life: adults, couples, adolescents, children and families in addressing a variety of challenges such as depression, anxiety, trauma, identity issues, self-esteem, substance abuse, and life transitions (i.e. divorce, immigration, illness), family planning, family relationships, and parenting. I am also experienced in doing mental health and substance abuse evaluations for courts and administrative purposes. My approach to therapy takes on psychodynamic perspective based on the belief that person must attend to the whole self -mind, body, and environment- to achieve understanding and self-realization.

Being a Licensed Clinical Social Worker for 15 years, working with families, in addition to, supporting children and adolescents with complex emotional, intellectual and behavioral needs, Allison has extensive experience working with a broad range of mental health issues including anxiety, depression, trauma, mood disorders, socialization issues and neurodevelopmental disorders. Over the years, Allison has provided individual, group and family therapy, working with a diverse client population. She has presented a wide range of mental health seminars for educational staff and parents and led process-oriented parenting groups.

I have over 20 years of experience as a therapist in the mental health field. I am passionate about helping people overcome their life stressors, past hurts, and to function in a healthier way. I help clients who suffer from mental health disorders, current problems, substance related addictions along with process related addictions (i.e. sex, gambling, shopping). I most frequently use Insight Oriented Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Internal Family Systems (IFS) approaches; as well as CBT and DBT when appropriate. I work with adults, adolescents, couples, and family members.

I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor with strong clinical training and years of experience in private practice, high school and community mental health settings. I obtained a Master's in Counseling and Psychotherapy from the Institute for Clinical Social Work. In addition, I received certification as a Grief Support Specialist from the University of Wisconsin. My main objective is to support you in gaining a deeper understanding of your emotional challenges, while at the same time, empowering you to make healthy and desired changes.
