I have been a certified private practitioner since 1987. I believe in having a warm, friendly, and open approach to well-being. I have extensive experience with children, adolescents, adults, older adults, couples and families. One area of expertise is with special education and special needs children. I am certified as both a school social worker and a principal. Another area of expertise is with the caregivers of both older adults and children with disabilities. I am certified by Ross Greene, in his CPS approach. I currently have private practices in Arlington Heights and Evanston. I participate in several insurance panels.

Thank you for taking the time to review my profile. Helping adults find overall balance and wellness is a primary focus of my practice. I have 20+ years of experience helping people with relationship/family issues, eating concerns, mood/anxiety disorders, interpersonal vulnerabilities and general work/life stress. I offer a therapy relationship that provides a focus on psychological wellness and a non-judgmental and collaborative environment in which to work together on personal growth and a return to a more positive and fulfilled state-of-being.

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor. My focus is to help my clients reach their full potential, through emotional stability. I look at the therapeutic relationship as important ground work to establishing the emotionally safe environment required by clients as they face many challenges in the therapeutic process. I provide a counseling experience that allows the client to grow by identifying and using their own strengths to achieve their goals.

In therapy, I work to empower my clients and help them build a stronger sense of compassion for themselves. While we can't change the world around us in the office, we can work together to find ways that make it easier to get through the challenges that come in life. My approach focuses on the context people are from as well as the context they are in now to gain a better understanding of who they are as a person.

I specialize in working with adolescents, young adults, and adults with anxiety, depression, mood disorders, trauma, low self-esteem, relationship concerns, disordered eating and body image concerns, stress, burnout, and life transitions.

I utilize a solution and strengths based approach when working with individuals and families and I specialize in working with adolescents, adults, and couples. I'm a licensed clinical psychologist. In my 25+ years as a psychotherapist I've come to appreciate the wisdom found in various therapeutic models. So I've developed an integrative approach. I believe it's important to tailor the therapy to the individual. Our past, present, and future all influence our choices and behaviors. So I find it helpful to put on trifocals to see where we're at, how we got here, and where we want to go. As social beings our interpersonal relationships are vital to our well-being and happiness. Sometimes our interpersonal style helps us connect with others; sometimes it gets in the way of our relationships. Checking out our personality style is often beneficial. As individuals we are unfolding in our own unique way and I believe there is an inner wisdom that leads us to who we are and what we really desire. Sometimes we get disconnected from ourselves and need to get back in touch by looking inward.

My specialty is couple and family counseling, and of course, I also see individuals ages 12 and up. I have significant experience working with children and families who are involved with DCFS. I have helped families deal with issues such as divorce/re-marriage, and child abuse. I also enjoy working with parents who are re-thinking their parenting style and want to work towards a more satisfying relationship with their child(ren).

First thing we do is discuss the presenting issue. The homework is to complete a personality style questionnaire that is key in helping to focus on the work. Then we see how the personality works with the presenting issue. Then we set up a way to address the issue that is tailored to the personality style. I assign common sense realistic ways for you to be able to use that will result in an immediate healthy sense of well being. I do individual and relationship counseling.
