No matter who you are or where you are in life, it has it's challenges! Don't go it alone! I'm passionate about creating the space for you to be your authentic self while helping you take steps to live your best life. I provide creative interventions for youth (8-18), especially those involved in court services, school disciplinary action, foster care, or have had traumatic experiences. I also work directly with families to help create the communication and atmosphere they desire. I help adults find purpose and direction, as well as strategies for managing depression, anxiety, life's stressors and transitions.

I have experience with anxiety, depression, trauma, ADHD, addiction, mood disorders, and life adjustments.
Life is inherently uncertain, marked by constant change—relocation, new diagnoses, parenthood—each evoking a spectrum of emotions. Navigating these challenges without the right knowledge or tools can feel overwhelming. This is where therapy serves as a guiding light. My objective is to cultivate emotional well-being and personal growth, considering all facets of life through a person-centered, multicultural approach. Acknowledging the uniqueness of each client, I tailor my approach to their individual strengths and abilities, rejecting the notion of a one-size-fits-all solution.

Our mind supports us in so many ways. But from time to time our mind needs support just like the rest of our body. Events in our life may impact our mind. You might have just gotten some challenging health news, recently lost a loved one, or sometimes it’s something from your past that keeps popping up. Or it could be the day to day of witnessing sadness in the news. Regardless of the reason, your mind deserves the same care as the rest of your body. My specialties include trauma, grief, anxiety, and health conditions (including fertility journeys and perinatal care).

I emphasize a whole person approach because anxiety, phobias, depression, relationship difficulties, and problematic behaviors happen within a broad context. Recommendations are offered with a compassionate appreciation of not only where you have been, but where you want to go. I strive to offer a data informed but humanistic approach to the treatment of such disorders as phobias, trichotillomania and other body- focused repetitive behaviors such as skin picking. I have experience working with trauma, behavioral health needs, neonatal loss, bereavement and life transition issues.

Lately have you felt anxious, sad or angry? And have these feelings made you feel hopeless, not good enough, or influenced you to use substances to cope? Overcoming these feelings might feel impossible to do and make you feel stuck. Many people engage in therapy to achieve peace and stop the cycle of distress. They want a therapist who can relate to them on a human level.

Anxiety Therapists

What are the most common treatments for anxiety?

Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?

The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?

Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?

Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
