Systemic oppression affects how we navigate the world and shapes our perspectives. At times, life circumstance, trauma, and mental health struggles can leave us feeling hopeless. As a writer and counselor, I believe in the power of words and stories for healing. We are exposed to many messages as we journey through life, both from others and ourselves. These messages have a profound impact, influencing our thoughts, emotions and behaviors, and can become detrimental to our mental health. She helps individuals find self-compassion as they work through concerns relating to stress, relationships, self-esteem, anxiety and depression. Kristen uses a client-centered approach and trauma-focused lens to validate clients' complexities and creates space for them to explore their inner and relational conflicts.

I specialize in family/relationship dynamics, LQBTQIA+ experiences, substance abuse disorders, everyday life transitions, and varying mental health concerns such as anxiety, depression, and ADHD. Not only do I pull from my clinical training in these topics, but also from my lived experiences and how they have affected not only me, but my relationships and family. These include being queer, a parent, a transplant from the midwest, and experiencing childhood trauma. I use my clinical expertise and lived experiences to create judgment free and individualized mental health care, which is at the core of how I practice.

My name is Angee. I am an LPC with an MA in Professional Mental Health Counseling and a Ph.D. (in progress) in Integrated Mind-Body Medicine, specializing in the holistic treatment of chronic pain, anxiety, depression, and OCD. Life with its transitions can be stressful and overwhelming. Even positive changes trigger distress. On this challenging path I offer my extensive training and experience to provide guidance helping you overcome obstacles to feeling better, to increase your curiosity and exploration of your self-growth, to understand yourself deeply, your relationship concerns; to make possible your working through the difficult situation. I have been successfully working with adolescents, adults, couples, and families. Together we identify long or short-term life difficulties such as helplessness, low self-esteem, relationship problems; we work them through, and increase satisfaction and meaning of life.

While experiencing pain is a part of the human experience, long term suffering does not have to be. Life brings with it a rich and vast set of experiences which can include complex and confusing family dynamics, navigating relationships, death of a loved one or an animal, an end of a relationship or friendship and existential questions around who we are, what our purpose(s) are in life and why we matter. For some people these existential questions and the emotions that accompany them have come closer to awareness in the face of climate change.

As a therapist, it is my belief that every individual has the ability to grow, heal, and transform themselves. Life can be chaotic, unexpected, and turbulent. It can take a toll on us in ways we did not imagine and were unable to foresee. It is my goal to assist you when there is chaos, to hold your hand through the unexpected, and to be a guide during the turbulence. It is of the utmost importance in practicing therapy that I create a safe, non-judgmental, and compassionate space to foster healing.

We are passionate about providing individual, family and group services to adults and children. We are excited to offer providers who are currently enrolled in masters programs for low-cost rates as well as licensed providers who can accept insurance.

My passion is to center our multiplicities, to look deeper into our internal systems and their connections with the environments, relationships, lineages and socio-political contexts we are a part of. As a mixed race Latina, I am particularly drawn to therapeutic work that centers considerations of culture, identity and historical trauma. I am LGBTQIA2S+ affirming. My training and continued learning focuses on intersections of racialized and gender-based trauma with interpersonal trauma and disconnection.

Together we will find the method or combination of methods that work best for you. My counseling style is supportive and non-confrontational. I take an ecological approach and will work with you and those you would like involved in your treatment as desired or needed.
