I learn each day what it means to live after the death of my daughter.
One of the greatest predictors of therapeutic success is a good match between therapist and client. My therapeutic approach is to be gently direct and focuses on you living the truth of who you are. I have no agenda about what your truth is or judgment of how it's become clouded. I am, however, interested in supporting you to live fully. I facilitate awareness through various means: body awareness, blockages to choice, personality, relationships, and teaching mindfulness practices. Clients who hold responsibility have the fuel to catalyze change, and I am ready to work with you.

Welcome. I often support active adults, nature-lovers, and mountain athletes (weekend warriors to professionals) through experiences with big transitions, stress, anxiety, authenticity, self worth tied to achievement, grief, injury, or backcountry accidents/ trauma. While I don’t yet know why you may be seeking support, I do hold hope that together we can create doorways to insight, growth, healing, and lasting change.

Therapy Style: compassionate listening, practical advice; Therapy Specialities: Mood Disorders, Grief and Loss, Relationships Troubles, Stress Management; Therapeutic Approaches: Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Insight-Oriented Supportive Listening, Solution-Focused, Dialectical Behavior Therapy.
Everyone has the capacity to change and grow given the space to breathe. There is an art and science to the practice of psychology. Mostly, there is hope. I warmly invite you to have me support you on your healing journey. We all have struggles that are typically met with the desire for a better, brighter way of life. It may feel impossible to change. But it is never too late. Try a new perspective, challenge yourself to different ways of relating and behaving. Often the gentle guidance of a therapist is helpful along a wellness journey. I am delighted by the opportunity to be that person for you.

Would you like to work on your issues with mindfulness, compassion and curiosity? Those are the qualities we use together to work with depression, grief, anxiety and relationship issues. Becoming aware of and learning to work with one's inner critic is very helpful too. In general, counseling and psychotherapy are powerful tools that can help us to feel better. I offer a safe, supportive and calm place to explore your self and your life. We can use traditional therapy techniques as well as mindfulness or meditative approaches to start to feel better as well as to grow and change.

I derive deep satisfaction from helping individuals in their journey toward healing, particularly following life's trials. Life is an unpredictable journey, blending joyous moments and painful experiences. There are instances when the accumulation of these difficulties can lead to feelings of uncertainty, insecurity, and unfulfillment. It's a universal experience sometimes to lose our sense of stability. I am well-acquainted with themes such as death, trauma, bereavement, terminal illness, self-esteem, anxiety, depression, and combat. I love working with people who intuitively know something is misaligned and are willing to entrust.

I believe we are all whole people who bring deep life experience filled with triumph, loss, and everything in between.
Connection to ourselves and others is essential to our mental health and well-being. Also, feeling like we’ve lost connection to ourselves or others (or both) at points in our lives is common. When this happens we may experience sadness, anxiety, grief, shame, and a range of other emotions. Our relationships may suffer and the cycle continues. Personally and professionally, I believe in the power of connection, relationships, and community. From this lens, I work with a variety of concerns including depression, anxiety, isolation, grief, shame, identity concerns, relationship difficulties, existential concerns, and men's issues.

We reach out for help when we recognize that we do not have the tools we need to think differently and/or feel better. This decision is born of insight, humility and courage. During my long career, I have counseled numerous individuals from all walks of life, in both private practice and as Clinical Director of Eating Disorders & Substance Abuse Residential & Outpatient treatment programs. If you are open to expanding your consciousness in areas of aging, transitions, sadness, anxiety, relationships (mending/ending), compulsive eating/binge eating/bulimia, sickness, dying, death and grief, sexuality, spirituality, let's meet.

Do you feel heard, seen, and understood by those around you? Do you feel like you're carrying the weight of the world on your shoulders? Do you wake up in the morning and struggle to perform daily tasks because you've lost that sense of joy and excitement you once had? If so, I want to assure you that you aren't alone nor do have to carry all of that weight alone.

My teacher Brene Brown has said, "Owning our story and loving ourselves through the process is the bravest thing we will ever do." As a Psychologist with 35 + years in practice, I continue to study discoveries in neuroscience and human behavior, and while I'm glad of that, what I know is that counseling is about talking through the hard stuff - shame, blame, fear, anger, criticism, grief, forgiveness, and all the rest. Tell me your story in all of its messiness, and let's figure out what's to be done about it. I welcome adults 18 and up struggling with most of what life dishes up. I promise to be candid and compassionate.

I work with individuals and couples to help explore the thoughts, feelings, and relationships that may not have been given proper attention, and help to make better sense/understanding of these in terms of how they influence the way we engage in life. Grief Therapists

How long does therapy take for grief?

There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.

When should you seek therapy for grief?

Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.

Can grief be managed without therapy?

Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.

What happens if grief is left untreated?

Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
