I am trained in substance abuse issues and Energy Psychology (tapping).
Do you have a difficult childhood? Unfortunately, our childhood decisions are put on automatic and affect our current daily life. I teach practical skills, such as tapping, emotional skills and communication that can be used for the rest of your life. Alchemical Hypnotherapy is used to rescue the child that was you from your past. Then, the adult is empowered to set boundaries and focus on attaining personal goals. Energy Psychology (Thought Field Therapy) is useful to defuse patterns and trauma and as a daily tool. My desire is to promote independence in the people I work with. I have a large toolbox to give clients to use.

Depression, anxiety, trauma, addiction.
Do you feel like you're drowning and can't find your way back up? Do you find yourself worried all the time, unable to sleep, and hopeless? I've been there too... Everything feels like it's changing so fast and you don't have a place to process it. You find yourself needing that glass of wine or two (or the bottle) at night just to help you feel "okay" long enough to get to sleep and start all over the next day. You know you need to talk to someone, and you are overwhelmed with getting started. It feels like with the right tools and a little bit of help, you could feel so much better.

My teacher Brene Brown has said, "Owning our story and loving ourselves through the process is the bravest thing we will ever do." As a Psychologist with 35 + years in practice, I continue to study discoveries in neuroscience and human behavior, and while I'm glad of that, what I know is that counseling is about talking through the hard stuff - shame, blame, fear, anger, criticism, grief, forgiveness, and all the rest. Tell me your story in all of its messiness, and let's figure out what's to be done about it. I welcome adults 18 and up struggling with most of what life dishes up. I promise to be candid and compassionate.

I know sometimes it feels like no one can help you. That you are too much, too dark, and too broken to be helped. Sometimes trauma can manifest by cutting, eating disorders, depression, chaos, and a real struggle to maintain friendships. It can be hard to even picture what a stable and consistent life would look like, but it's still something you want. Chaotic feelings feel like they take over you and you struggle to make it through each day. You want to live but still feel suicidal. This is all normal for someone with trauma, someone who has been through abuse, someone who has experienced broken relationships and even toxic ones.

Fifteen years ago, in my late 20s, I faced an existential crisis. The pain and shame of knowing I was meant for more—more happiness, meaning, and purpose—without knowing how to get there was overwhelming. At times, terrifying. With the help of others, I discovered my unique path to an authentic, self-led life. My mission as a therapist is to return that gift. I believe we all have an innate ability to heal from past wounds, rewrite our inner story, and reunite with a sense of self that feels whole, connected, and fulfilled.

Are you trapped in a complex family and/or work situation? If both, there may be a similar pattern of causes even in dissimilar situations. Understanding complexity can identify basic hidden patterns. Some clients experience chronic or acute physical illnesses: these are clues to unraveling the complexities. Emotional and physical problems may be a surface expression of buried family or personal trauma. For my clients, discovering patterns embedded in family behaviors can help them manage their current problematic situations. Psychotherapy can help clients move forward in systems that seem beyond their control.

Not accepting new clients .... Why is change so hard? Because we are often not aware of what we do or why we do it. My specialty is diving deeply into the mind and helping you experience change at a fundamental level. This requires no special knowledge or skill on your part, only willingness to explore and an openness to what you might find. Just like your body, your mind knows how to heal itself. My role is to facilitate that process. I provide a safe environment, compassionate feedback, and supportive challenge when needed. I also offer Neurofeedback to improve concentration, sleep, anxiety and ADHD.

I provide therapy from a whole health perspective. This means understanding the mind-body connection. I want to help you better understand, recognize, process, cope, and heal from challenging emotions, thoughts, and behaviors. I use a person-centered approach which means I walk beside you in this journey, not ahead of you or behind you. Whether you are new to therapy or you are experienced with therapy, it can still feel overwhelming, uncomfortable, and hard to be vulnerable when meeting with a therapist and talking about your deepest feelings, thoughts, emotions, and behaviors.

I love helping clients discover how one's personal history relates to their current functioning. If we look deeply enough, our symptoms make sense! I remind clients there's nothing fundamentally wrong with them; they can heal and make great progress. I help people discharge and reprocess trauma using somatic therapies, EMDR, IFS, TRE's, EFT and more to spark the body's natural healing mechanisms, to calm the central nervous system and facilitate peaceful, healthier living. I have openings for KAP, Multi-Day Intensives and insurance-paid sessions online (through Sondermind) on Tuesdays. Feel free to email me for available times :)

Addiction Therapists

What is the best therapy for addiction?

Addiction treatment will be tailored to the individual. People seeking help for addiction—whether with a psychotherapist, in an outpatient clinic, or in a residential program—should expect to engage in multiple types of treatments, sometimes including medication. For anyone recovering from addiction, avoiding situations in which one has typically used a substance is essential, as is the support of close connections. Since substance use disorders tend to co-occur with underlying mental health conditions such as anxiety or depression, those must also be addressed as part of any recovery plan.

How long does therapy for addiction take?

There is no set timeline for recovery from addiction. Patients and their families should expect the work to last several months, if not longer. Residential treatment programs may be based on a stay of 30, 60, or 90 days, with continuing work after release, but only about 1 percent of people are treated in such facilities. Ceasing use is just the first step; therapy to help maintain abstinence and effect behavior change must follow. The process of recovery, neuroscience has shown, involves brain cells recovering the capacity to respond to natural sources of reward and restore control over the impulse to use. Another definition of recovery is restoring voluntary control over one’s substance use and retaking all of one’s previous responsibilities.

How effective is drug addiction treatment?

Substance use disorders are treatable and remission is achievable for many who seek recovery; by some estimates, more than three-quarters of people who become addicted to alcohol or drugs recover. But that success rarely occurs quickly or on a set timeline; relapse is not only common, but many therapists and clinicians view it as a normal part of the process—not always a sign that a person has returned to addiction, but a signal that their treatment should be adjusted to help them regain control. Overall, research suggests, five years after the end of substance use, one’s risk of relapse is no greater than that of others who had not faced addiction. Other experts believe that complete abstinence is not the only measure of recovery, and that, through effective treatment, many people can learn to control their use.

How can you get addiction treatment for someone?

The most important factor in recovery from addiction is widely understood to be an individual’s commitment to change. For that reason,“interventions” in which friends and family gather to urge or force someone to begin immediate treatment often backfire; even when such efforts do lead someone to begin treatment, they may be less likely to stay than those who are self-driven. Still, family members can play an important role in supporting an individual who seeks help and can take part in family therapy as one element of a loved one’s treatment.
