I specialize in individual, couple, and family therapy.
Every person has their own reasons for seeking therapy. Some choose it during a period of major life transitions or hardships, while others may seek out therapy in order to deepen their understanding of themselves. By using a psychodynamic and object relations model I am able to consider the whole person rather than pure symptom reduction. I believe there is both conscious and unconscious meaning to symptoms.

Hello! I am grateful you are spending time to find support and move towards change/ in what you want in life. I believe people have the ability to be attuned with themselves emotionally. It is when we are able to connect with ourselves deeply that we can lean in and pay attention to our body’s signals. Learning to be attuned with our body is not a natural process and in doing so we can learn to live a more attuned life. I am extremely passionate about helping individuals with finding ways to grow and coming alongside them to get there.

My specialties include working with adults to help them access their own internal resiliency, learn healthier ways of coping, becoming more self-aware and improve behavior. My treatment approach is working within a Humanistic model. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Existential and Family Systems approaches are utilized as well.

I believe change happens in therapy through learning and experiencing new ways to respond to challenges in our lives such as emotions, thoughts, pain, family, or spouses.
It is a challenging experience to find a therapist. It is challenging because you have to be brave enough to seek therapy even though there is stigma, fear, and doubt that you may hear from others or even your own mind that says to not try. To further make it challenging, you may have a lengthier search finding a therapist who fits with you personally after coming up with the courage to even meet with one. So I'd like to thank you for seeking therapy in general and also thank you for allowing me to share some details of my practice so that you might consider us working together.

I enjoy working with adults, teens, and children and have experience working with diverse populations and family configurations.
Along life's journey, there are markers that shape who we have become and how we engage with ourselves and others. Together, we will explore your childhood, relationships, points of crisis, negative looping thoughts, and feelings. In our work, we will look for paths that help you become more aware of your strengths and struggles so you can navigate challenges you may have with depression, anxieties, feeling lost, motivation, and current relationships.

I provide a combination of various treatment modalities, CBT, TF-CBT, DBT, solution-focused therapy, and narrative family therapy.
It's been a pleasure to work with individuals of all walks of life seeking to gain a better understanding of themselves, life experiences, and work through issues that are impacting them. I'm a firm believer that in order to grow we must be open to explore more about ourselves and therapy is a great space for that. Its always an honor to hear an individual say "therapy has taught me a lot" or "I'm glad I gave this a chance." I pride myself in providing a safe space to do the vulnerable work together and ensure you feel challenged, cared for, and supported.

Family Therapy

What do family therapists do?

A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.

How long does therapy for families take to work?

Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.

How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?

You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.

Is therapy for families effective?

Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
