I strive to create a safe, non-judgmental, and supportive atmosphere for clients. I use a holistic and collaborative approach, recognizing that it can be difficult to process painful emotions alone. I draw from Psychodynamic, Attachment-based, Solution-Focused, and Existential approaches. Together, we'll identify the patterns that hold you back and develop practical tools to navigate life's stressors. We'll also work toward dismantling the barriers of self-doubt and crippling anxiety, nurturing your authentic sense of self.

I work with teens (14+), young adults, and adults' struggling with anxiety, depression, grief, self-esteem/self-defeat/body image issues, trauma, LGBTQ+ issues.
What is it for you...Is it the lack of motivation? The over-thinking? The never feeling good enough or need to be perfect? The “I don’t know who I am?” The loss of identity? The failed or lack of relationship/s? The hopelessness? The unexplained sadness? The lack of support? School Stress? Well sometimes growing up or even life can be very overwhelming and the desperation to feel better as you navigate through can leave you feeling stuck and lost on your next decision/move.

Virtual openings as of 5/15. Hi, I'm Katie! Do you struggle with high stress or feeling down, but not sure how to feel better? Daily challenges, emotional burdens, and past experiences can leave you feeling drained and stuck in a rut. I specialize in helping women who want to exit the vicious cycle & feel themselves again. I can help you identify triggers, set goals and maintain them. I use techniques known as "CBT," or Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (using the way you think to improve mood or stress) and distress tolerance skills so that you build that resiliency muscle- just like an athletic trainer would in a gym.

Living with anxiety, depression, or another mood disorder can cause you to feel crippled or stuck. It seems like you have no control over your life and struggle to manage relationships with your friends, family, and peers. Emotional distress may make it hard to complete simple task and achieve goals. Many times you probably feel misunderstood. Imagine what it would be like to feel understood and to be able to better understand you own emotions, thoughts, and symptoms. You would feel like you are finally being heard and gain confidence in your ability to solve your problems, manage your mood, and overcome past experiences.

I incorporate a variety of modalities, such as Art Therapy (no prior art training necessary), Play Therapy, and Sand Tray Therapy, into sessions while honoring each client's individual strengths and needs. I believe there is an innate desire within every human to be seen and heard, and to receive value and significance. For so many, a message filled with lies was internalized, “Who cares what I think? My feelings aren't important.” My NUMBER ONE focus is to create an atmosphere where my clients feel at ease, and valued and given the freedom to tell their unique and personal story. The meaning of “Therapy” to me is this, “Therapy is the miracle of, “You tell” and “I listen”. Therapy is the wonder of being heard and understood.” The goal of therapy is for the "best you" to emerge as skills and strategies are learned and implemented.

Grief Therapists
How long does therapy take for grief?
There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.
When should you seek therapy for grief?
Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.
Can grief be managed without therapy?
Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.
What happens if grief is left untreated?
Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
