In my 30 plus years as a licensed professional counselor, I have had the honor of walking with individuals and couples through life crises and transitions, seeing them with fresh eyes, an understanding heart, and strategic interventions (or behavioral “experiments”) as they discover a new life of purpose and meaning, with renewed personal energy and deepened relationships.

In my tenure as a mental health professional I have served diverse populations in multiple settings to include: school-based, residential, community mental health and higher-education environments. Proficient in four languages (Ukrainian, Russian, French, and English), I provide culturally competent and trauma-informed clinical services to help people from all walks of life obtain access to mental health services. As a strong generalist, my therapeutic interests include a range of mental health issues and complications in individuals, couples, and families. As a trauma specialist, I hope to make the world as safer place for all.

I enjoy working with clients who are struggling with issues that are either acute (recent) or chronic (lifelong). I find that it is particularly important to form a working relationship that will focus on a path of discovery that will begin to identify possible solutions. Often problems can be resolved quickly such as parenting issues and sometimes issues are very complex and require examining a thorough history of life experiences from childhood to the present. I am always amazed how my words stick with people for years and years and I believe that a journey of discovery takes many paths and has many time frames.

I provide both outpatient mental health therapy and substance abuse/use assessments and therapy to all members of the community. Clients experiencing such issues as depression/anxiety, PTSD/trauma, life changes, gender identity concerns, and substance use will benefit from the services I offer. I utilize a person centered approach and work collaboratively with clients to address their needs. I meet clients 'where they are' and work with them to identify positive interventions and change. The comprehensive clinical assessments and substance abuse assessments I provide meet criteria for court ordered and school referred clients and can be completed in office or at your location.

My approach is to understand you deeply and individualize our work by finding what is most effective for you. All people are unique and their life circumstances are particular to who they are. Through collaboration, we figure out what is what is most beneficial for your wellbeing and also what is realistic for your lifestyle. I typically incorporate various techniques including art, nature, and breath-work into traditional evidence based therapies. I will start by asking you to think about what you will be doing, thinking, and feeling differently when you don't need therapy anymore. We can then collaborate to create a roadmap to meet your goals. Sometimes even thinking about the end goal can be scary; that's ok, we can figure it out together!
