Life is too short! Don't surrender to bad relationships, hold grudges, let trauma control you, or be anxious and angry all the time. I want you to be free of emotional pain, able to deal with life on life's terms, and to find meaning and purpose in work, family, friendships, spirituality, and all other life areas. Are you ready to make a change in your life? It takes courage to ask for help, but the rewards of doing so can lead to a lifetime of fulfillment. Ultimately, therapy can lead you to greater self-awareness, self-esteem, and most importantly, a more fulfilling life. You can't do life alone!

Life can feel overwhelming. One minute it's your job, then your relationship, next the kid(s), your family, and maybe even painful memories from your childhood. You just can't seem to catch a break. You try everything to get on the right track, but something always seems to get in the way. You've tried so hard to climb out of the worry, frustration and sadness; but eventually it's just exhausting. Should you give up? Or maybe just do the bare minimum to get by. You don't know which way to turn.

Someone once said “Those who wish to sing will always find a song”. But sometimes finding the motivation to ask for help when you need it can be a difficult task. There may be times when you feel like you can’t go to friends or family for help. As a Licensed Mental Health Therapist, I provide a safe, compassionate, and confidential environment for my clients so that we can navigate through those tough times together. As a result, symptoms of anxiety, depression and self-doubt decrease through an increased sense of well-being.

I work closely with clients experiencing complex trauma/PTSD, interpersonal/family conflict, anxiety & mood disorders, & somatic-related challenges.
The process of change requires us to start somewhere, and it is our very first steps that consequentially reveal our true strength and ability to invest in ourselves, our well-being, and find meaning in our lives. I work with adolescent and adult clients and have been so fortunate to discover my true passion for trauma-focused care and my eclectic, authentic style. As a firm believer in the significance of both our past and present experiences, I integrate evidence-based, universal practices to promote optimal self-growth, mental and emotional healing. Come as you are; nothing more, nothing less.

Having a happier relationship with your family, specifically with your kids as they are more compliant and respectful.
You have a list of things to do each day, but you are barely getting one task crossed off. You’re finding it difficult to get your day started. No one in your circle seems to understand your struggle OR you're trying your best to keep it all together. Maybe you feel hopeless, confused, resentful, telling yourself “I miss who I used to be before marriage and the kids”. Maybe you are thinking who you are and what you do is just never good enough. You could even be questioning constantly “is everyone else’s kids this difficult and defiant”?

Family Therapy

What do family therapists do?

A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.

How long does therapy for families take to work?

Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.

How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?

You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.

Is therapy for families effective?

Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
