Waitlist for new clients
I have assisted a number of clients through life transitions, such as starting a family/new job/college/retirement/loss, etc.
My goal is to meet all clients where they are at on their journeys. Through the use of a combination of Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Mindfulness, my clients have found peace and success in moving forward through difficult life situations. Each client has a unique story; I am determined to discover the story and assist the client in exploring the possibilities of a well balanced life. In providing a safe place to explore the feelings of disappointment, grief, anxiety, depression, and addiction, current and former clients have discovered these temporary vices prevent the client from moving forward.

You are the author of your life, and your journey is uniquely yours. Walking alongside you through your healing journey would be an honor and privilege. I have been where you are, and my greatest desire is to help others overcome painful experiences, trauma, depression, anxiety, or whatever is hurting your heart to work toward healing. The work is hard, but it's worth it, and it's never too late. No matter what walk of life you are in you will find only mercy, compassion, truth and love, just like Jesus. Before you click on the next profile, I ask, "Do you want to be well?" John 5:6

Some people, including myself, have had a point in life where they feel there is something more in life, but don't know how to get there. Others may have gotten to a point where they don't feel they have potential. No matter where you are at-broken, stuck, or just feel you need someone to guide you in your journey, I can help you. I love to work with people people through their struggles by taking a relational and evidence based approach that focuses on using ones strength to accomplish their purpose. When one learns to use their strengths, they often feel happier and become more successful.

I really enjoy helping those who struggle with eating disorders, anxiety, depression, relationship issues, and adjustment issues- just to name a few. I have worked in a jail in the past for almost five years. I am open minded and have worked with clients in the LGBTQ+ community. I enjoy working with clients on a holistic approach and having clients engage in various forms of coping skills and activities outside of the talk therapy session. I use CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy) which can be helpful in addressing maladaptive thought patterns. I look forward to working with you!

Reach out for a free consultation to talk about how I might be able to support you or your family during this time.
I believe strongly in the importance of counseling grounded in respect, sensitivity, and compassion. I believe counseling is not just about feeling better but being better at dealing with the feelings we experience as we face life’s challenges. With the support of someone to help us process or teach us new skills difficult times can become times of growth. I enjoy working with people of all ages and backgrounds but particularly enjoy working with people going through life changes and middle school and high school youth.

Despite cultural or ethnic similarities or differences, each individual has their own family and their own story, I look forward to learning who you are and how you see the world.
Change is hard but can be welcome relief when we are suffering. I welcome those seeking change, enthusiastically or reluctantly. We are all changing (the only constant). I work with people to make those changes conscious and long lasting. I help them find balance in the change process, recognizing successes and sitting in discomfort together. I have a wholistic approach to meet each client where they are through cognitive behavioral therapy, person-centered therapy, motivational interviewing and trauma informed care.

My best fit client is an individual or couple or family that is ready for change. I work best with clients who are ready to embrace themselves or relationships in a nonjudgemental and accountable way. I will at times provide therapeutic homework and I can extend sessions to longer than hour because people need to express themselves in more than 55 minutes sometimes. If you are someone who likes to think outside of the box, you will enjoy my expressive arts background that supports inner wisdom and treats you, the client, as the other expert in the room. I am also a Certified Mental Health & Nutrition Clinical Specialist.

Family Therapy

What do family therapists do?

A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.

How long does therapy for families take to work?

Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.

How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?

You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.

Is therapy for families effective?

Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
