Making the decision to go to counseling, or even wondering if you need counseling, can leave you feeling vulnerable and scared. Sometimes life’s challenges can be overwhelming or too much to navigate alone. Often, things happen that we have no control over, and sometimes we find ourselves in situations due to choices we've made. These instances can cause us to experience depression, anxiety, negative thinking patterns, grief, relationship issue, family difficulties. I can help you navigate these life stressors in a safe, sensitive and compassionate environment.

I have been treating individuals with depression, anxiety, adjustment disorders, disruptive behaviors, anger management, addictions, substance abuse, eating disorders, grief, school/classroom behavioral issues, trauma and PTSD.
It takes courage to begin therapy, and I would be honored to be a part of your journey. I work with adults, children, and adolescents in their journey towards growth, health, and healing. The journey begins by building a client/therapist relationship through trust, safety, and comfort. I provide an atmosphere of empathy, respect, and compassion which will encourage clients to explore and develop awareness regarding their difficulties, increase their resilience and self-support, and enhance their well-being. My therapeutic approach emphasizes the relationship between therapist and client.

I created Live in Harmony Counseling to be a nurturing haven for anyone burdened by trauma, grief, or depression. I understand that life's challenges can leave us feeling weary and in dire need of solace. As a counselor, I'm here to embrace you. The good, bad, messy, silly — all of you. I can’t erase your pain or trauma. I wish I could, but I believe there is so much growth we can achieve from sharing our hardships, feeling our pain, and allowing ourselves to be imperfect as we heal. Trauma, life, and pain happen. This isn’t a way of minimizing our experiences, but to be ok with being sad, angry, anxious, depressed or just blagh.

When she passed I didn't want to face the sadness. However I found restoration and healing in the storm of my life. Let me help you find shelter from the storms of your life.

I'm trained in attachment, relationships, grief/loss, anxiety, depression & trauma.
Do you spend a lot of time wondering how you got to this point? You haven’t been yourself; maybe others have noticed. You want your life back but the road seems so hard. You might feel all alone. When you find yourself here the important things can start to fall apart like relationships with the ones you love. Or perhaps it's a relationship problem that started the downward spiral. In these hard places you need to be seen and understood by someone. Learning coping strategies and positive self-talk can only take you so far. You deserve therapy that leads to healing and wholeness helping you become the best version of yourself.

The primary guiding principle in my approach to therapy is empathy. I am convinced that "feeling with" people is a key to healing. When people feel listened to and truly understood, an atmosphere of mutual respect is created. It has been my experience that people do not feel valued unless they know that someone is genuinely interested in understanding their pain.

At times it gets hard to navigate life; having to deal with sadness, fear, anxiety, anger, betrayal, trauma, abuse, and the list goes on. Maybe you need moral support, strategies to make decisions, solve problems, or resolve conflict. What do you think about gaining tools, being informed, and making sustained change? It is my pleasure to serve individuals, groups, and families by providing a listening ear and life changing interventions during your therapeutic process. Nervous? Don't know what to expect? I get that and I strive to provide a safe environment for self expression, hope and healing.

How long does therapy take for grief?

There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.

When should you seek therapy for grief?

Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.

Can grief be managed without therapy?

Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.

What happens if grief is left untreated?

Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
