I have training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Focused CBT, and Eye-Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR).
Do memories of traumatic events keep you from experiencing life to the fullest? Have your experiences been minimized or invalidated? Do you find yourself stuck in shame and loneliness, desperately trying to find someone who will listen? Your experiences are not too small, and I would be honored to be a part of your healing journey. You are worthy of finding peace. My primary treatment approach is EMDR, a highly-effective, evidence-based treatment for trauma. As a strengths-based therapist, my goal is to guide clients into recognizing their own abilities to cope with difficult experiences. I work with ages 9 and up.

The primary areas of focus include trauma, life transitions, pregnancy/post partum, & relationship stress.
Life is a journey, a journey that is most difficult when traveled alone. I strive to walk with clients on their path towards healing and happiness. Working from a client-centered approach, it is essential for me to understand each client as an individual to develop trust and a partnership in therapy. Relationships, trauma, careers and other stressors take a toll on a person's ability to flourish. I believe that each person has potential for growth from those experiences. My goal is to help you regain your footing on your path to living a full and vibrant life.

Much of my work has focused on trauma, loss, identity, and/or mental illness.
Maybe you are here because you're feeling stressed after a difficult, scary, or painful life event. Maybe you are feeling overwhelmed and isolated by your emotions. Maybe you're already feeling not good enough and the idea of talking to someone feels like a lot. But at the same time, you're considering that what you need most might be acceptance and a safe person to process with. If you or your child/teen are feeling stuck, I am glad you are here! I can help you reconnect with your sense of calm and work through your struggles to find your growth.

Many things in our lives can lead us to reach out when we feel the need for support or help working through challenges. Many of my clients work on trauma and pain they have carried for a long time. I help my clients reorganize patterns of thinking, feeling, and acting in order to adapt to their present reality and to release "the old stuff". I became a therapist because I knew what it felt like to be preoccupied by something crying out to be "fixed" or "solved". I enjoy working with clients to collaboratively address their challenges and unravel layers that interfere with getting in touch with themselves.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
