YOU deserve the BEST in life and I am proud of you for making it this far! If you want help to better yourself or just want someone to talk to, I am here for you! Sometimes therapy can seem very intimidating, but I am a laid back therapist who is here to listen. The therapeutic relationship is built on trust and I want you to feel safe to talk openly and freely. If you are struggling with something overwhelming, let me help you to get through it. I have experience working with people of all ages who struggle with the stresses of life, such as balancing work/school with personal life or if you struggle with severe mental illness.

Areas of specialty and interest include anxiety disorders (panic, OCD, generalized anxiety, social and other phobias, PTSD) mood disorders, anger management and marital/relationship counseling as well as substance abuse.
I have been a psychologist in practice for over 30 years. I work in a collaborative style with clients. I am active in that I ask questions, make specific suggestions or assignments and may suggest monitoring moods or behavior. Although I am eclectic in that I will use whatever therapeutic approaches will be most effective in helping clients reach their goals, I primarily work from a cognitive-behavioral perspective. Cognitive-behavioral treatment is best for helping change negative thought patterns and beliefs that underlie problem moods and behaviors. It is focused on the here and now and has been found effective with many problems.

I would like to help my clients on their journey of self-discovery. I feel it is important for one to understand all that makes them who they are and how they function, so that when they make goals, they are able to achieve them. If you are struggling through anxiety, depression, trauma, or low self-worth, then I want to work with you, whether it means working with you and your partner, your family or on your own. When you are able to understand yourself and your needs, then the tools and skills needed to help you are easier to select and be more useful in our counseling together.

My experience includes work with individuals, couples, families, and groups who have come to counseling with concerns such as anxiety, depression, loss, grief, relational conflict, and faith-related issues.
Hello, and thank you for taking a moment to stop by. You are evidently looking for something; perhaps I can help you find it. Seeking help can seem like staring at the base of a steep cliff and facing a seemingly unreachable goal, a goal of real and satisfying change. While change is not often easily or painlessly achieved, it is certainly possible. With an experienced helper to assist along the way, you can determine to safely and successfully make your way toward the top. The hardest step, of course, is the first: that of getting started. You have already done so in reading this, so don't stop now. Keep going.

Research has proven that the therapeutic relationship is key to effective therapy, so it's important for you to think and decide if you feel we’re a good fit.
I know that it can be scary starting with a therapist, and often times the hardest part is reaching out. My goal is to create a safe, judgement free space for you to feel comfortable sharing.

I have been a Clinical Psychologist for over 21 years and have both the educational and work experience to treat children, adolescents, adults, and couples/families.
I often build trust and rapport quickly, while instilling hope and optimism. Therapy is performed both in person and tele therapeutically, helping to ameliorate symptoms and improve overall functioning in those that I serve. In addition to individual therapy, I really enjoy and have found success in performing couples counseling/family therapy and often have evening hours that make it easier for both partners/children to get into therapy consistently. For years, clients have felt relaxed and heard in the sessions, making continuing therapy seamless for many. Scheduling is easy, at your leisure, via a portal when you are ready.

Couples Counseling Therapists

Does couples counseling work?

Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.

When should a couple seek counseling?

Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.

How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?

The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.

How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?

The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
