I am trained to utilize EMDR, CBT, TF-CBT, Solution Focused, and ACT.
Individuals experience numerous events that leave lasting impacts, whether good or bad. Finding someone to talk to can be a struggle because we may feel we will be judged or seen as incapable of dealing with events. Depression, anxiety, anger, trauma, and communicating feelings can be difficult topics to discuss in a non-formal setting. By not having an open discussion about such topics, our lives can take a toll and spiral down at times. Mental health is an aspect of life that often gets overlooked in many communities, and taking the initiative to talk to a therapist is the first step to a well-balanced life.

I also provide therapy to those with personal and relationship struggles implementing Virginia Satir approach, and mindfulness with acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) for adults.
Are you struggling with learning, anxiety, depression, and attention deficit and you need assessment right away? Or perhaps your child is too gifted and talented and not working to its potential with another failing report card on its way and it is clear that your child needs help. It leaves you completely overwhelmed, feeling like you are the only person trying to do anything about it as the school is letting it all happen. You see several struggles in reading, writing, organization, forgetting things learned, making the same mistakes over and over again? Do you wonder if your child needs IEP/504 or gifted education?

Using a range of therapeutic modalities including CBT, DBT, ACT, ERP (it’s OK if you do not know what all of these acronyms are), and Existential Therapy, I am here to meet you where you are at.
Too many of us keep our issues hidden and secret for too long. We are not sure where to turn or what the future holds. Stress, anxiety, depression, and existential angst often hold us back from living our best lives. My goal and my passion is to develop a therapeutic relationship with each and every client as an individual. I believe that it is important to focus on the “here and now” and to use the therapeutic relationship to help you grow, be more open and vulnerable in the relationships that you cherish, and to help you live lives consistent with your dreams, aspirations, and values.

Our work will be founded in acceptance, expanding & diversifying your coping skills to change ineffective behaviors.
Do you feel down and unmotivated? Have trouble getting out of bed some days? Or perhaps you are experiencing challenges with the imbalance between your work and family life? Feeling overwhelmed with uncertainties and “what ifs” of life? Do people assume you have it all together, but you're struggling with anxiety, depression, or trauma that overwhelms your thoughts and emotions? Imagine if you didn’t have to feel this way. It can be challenging, but people do find joy in life. An ideal client would be an individual seeking to prioritize and proactively engage in managing their mental health.

My focus has been with holistic care, which assists individuals develop mindfulness, awareness, and acceptance in order to grow within themselves.
In life, we sometimes question the nature of our experiences and how these experiences have shaped us into the person we are today. During these moments of questioning, feelings of doubt, confusion, and other emotions may build upon one another to create the sense of "not knowing" oneself. It is in these times, we may feel as if we are alone in these experiences. The gift in therapy is to know that you are not alone in these experiences. The therapeutic relationship, through valuing, listening, and understanding can provide appreciation to the questions that we sometimes ask of ourselves.

I take a Person-Centered approach by utilizing CBT, ACT, SFBT interventions to help clients overcome their obstacles to self-fulfillment.
I truly believe we as humans can rise up from anything. It's extremely easy to get stuck on a feeling and harbor thoughts that our problems will never go away or believe we are not strong enough to persevere or overcome the issues that steal away our desire for true happiness. Part of my job is to be a guide, to assist you in discovering the power you possess and help you in overcoming the issues that brought you to therapy. I always applaud those willing to seek therapy because it’s a sign of strength as it’s not easy to ask for help. I work with individuals seeking assistance to overcome SUD, anger, anxiety, depression, grief.

How does acceptance and commitment therapy work?

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy encourages a person to listen to their self-talk. A person’s inner dialog can be indicative of how they treat themselves. ACT also encourages self-compassion; this can lead to a better understanding of negative thought patterns and emotional states. This understanding can then lead the individual to needed behavior change.

What are the goals of acceptance and commitment therapy?

The goal of acceptance and commitment is to expand a person’s psychological flexibility, a trait that encourages an individual to live in the present moment and to accept all their thoughts, feelings, and emotions, even ones that are difficult such as sadness and anxiety. In ACT, this acceptance is congruent with the individual’s values and beliefs.

Does acceptance and commitment therapy work for depression?

Acceptance and commitment therapy is effective for depression because it allows the individual to view their discomfort and suffering differently. Depressive feelings about relationship heartaches, for example, are a part of life. A despondent person learns to let go of their struggles and instead view their painful thoughts and feelings with compassion. This will lead the individual toward positive change.

How long are people typically in acceptance and commitment therapy?

A typical acceptance and commitment therapy session is 50 minutes long with one session per week. Treatment for common problems such as anxiety, depression, or relationship difficulties can last between eight weeks to four months. However, more severe cases may require more than one session a week and/or a longer time frame for treatment.
