I am a licensed therapist based in NYC, working with individuals and couples across the lifespan. Many people recognize positive aspects of themselves, but struggle to feel connected in relationships or at peace in their daily lives. I am particularly sensitive to clients facing moments of transition, such as a big move, job loss, or breakup, when the delicate balance can seem unstable, and symptoms of anxiety, depression, and self-doubt can emerge. I am focused on ensuring that my clients see real progress: my style is interactive, non-judgmental, and positions clients as the experts on where they are now, and where they are going.

I pride myself in taking on a nonjudgmental stance in order to create a space of comfort for adolescents and adults who are struggling with anxiety, depression, life transitions, self-esteem issues, and interpersonal issues.
Do you find yourself feeling confused, lost, or misunderstood in a world where the only constant is change? Are you having trouble opening up to the people around you out of fear of judgment? Asking for help can be difficult, but therapy can serve as the first step toward taking back your autonomy. Sometimes, to get what we need, we rely on the skills that have, out of habit, come to be like second nature. Our ability to get what we need does not always equate to using healthy mechanisms to do so. Together we can identify different aspects of your identity in order to replace any negative coping strategies.

My areas of specialty include anxiety, depression, trauma, identity and relational struggles, psychosomatic, bereavement, and aging difficulties.
As a psychologist, I help people address their struggles and reach their potential. I pay careful attention to the establishment of a safe, trusting environment where people feel heard, seen, and supported. I have come to recognize the issues that come along with our attempts to cope with challenges that life presents. We often use strategies that might have been useful in the past and are less helpful now. These patterns--many of which are not in our immediate awareness--are multilayered and as such, present as portals for us to access the enormous field of potential for lasting change which we aim to access collaborativelly.

I am very fortunate to combine my three loves: people, psychology and dogs. Over the years my dogs have accompanied me to my office and have been of great therapeutic value and pleasure in their interaction with patients of all ages. Therapy is an exciting adventure in which therapist and patient agree to explore the patient's life, dreams, problems, fears, hopes and aspirations. As therapist it is my responsibility to guide: sometimes lead, share and always to jointly explore who the individual is. While everyones' therapy is different, therapy is the opportunity to pull ones' life together and develop the courage to change.

Together we can identify what is making you unhappy, and uncover the meaning or a need in what might be expressed as a symptom (loneliness, lack of desire, anxiety, anger, worry, panic, addiction, etc).
I offer long and short term therapy. There are many reasons why people seek therapy or psychoanalysis. Some people have a specific issue that they want to focus on, while others feel unhappy, lost, depleted, and generally dissatisfied in their life without exactly knowing why. Desire for personal growth, curiosity, or a self-care, are also good reasons to seek therapy. I invite you to reach out to me. I might be able to help you.

Welcome! I am a clinical psychologist and a TA psychotherapist (transactional analysis). I work with a variety of psychological challenges but I am specialized in working with individuals struggling with eating disorders (bulimia nervosa, anorexia nervosa, binge-eating disorder). The individuals I work with often come to therapy having tried many behavioral interventions that brought little change (being more disciplined with their diet, exercising more/less, creating plans etc.).

Anxiety Therapists

What are the most common treatments for anxiety?

Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?

The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?

Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?

Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
