My speciality is working with female and male trauma survivors and LGBTQAI+ individuals as they sort through their truths and pain.
As an older queer Jewish woman, I love working with other LBGTQ and straight women and men who are ready to make changes in their lives. I understand what it feels like to be hurt by people you love or to be unable to find peace within yourself. So you're in pain or suffer from anger, or shamed, let me help you help yourself. You can learn to regulate your emotions and change the way you think about yourself and interact with others differently. I know this is difficult as I have had to do this too. Let me help you help yourself walk through the pain and get to the other side. It is time to unburden yourself of your secrets.

I support clients who identify as sensitive, empathic, intuitive or creative. With a decade of experience providing trauma-focused support, I weave together talk therapy with somatic (body-focused) techniques, energy psychology, therapeutic meditation and energy therapies including reiki and shamanism. My approach supports the holistic self by meeting body, mind, emotion, energy and soul. We all experience ebbs and flows in life, times of thriving and times of struggle. Times of struggle can often manifest as anxiety, depression, post-traumatic stress, or feeling disconnected from the true self.

Life can be stressful, but when you are confronted with major change, loss or trauma the simplest tasks can feel overwhelming. Therapy can help support, guide and heal current and past events, heal depressive disorders, anxiety disorders, abuse, as well as change patterns that continue to prevent relationship, social and professional goals from being met.

My specialties include trauma which encompasses everything from childhood physical, sexual, and emotional abuse or neglect, physical/sexual assault, accidents, domestic violence, and human trafficking - to trauma others may not even recognize as “traumatic,” but if it negatively impacts you, it’s trauma! .
TRUST – It’s a simple word, but for those who have been hurt – physically, sexually, emotionally, or spiritually – it’s far from simple to do. Trust is not something I will expect from you initially, but something I will feel honored to earn, as our therapeutic alliance grows and we celebrate together the courage it took for you to seek therapy. I can help you discover what you would like your life to become, even if that sounds impossible right now. I am an LCSW with experience in working with adults and children. I believe individual change can break cycles of abuse and promote parenting styles to build up future generations.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
