I work with couples, families, individuals, children, teens, and groups who are struggling with communication, family relationships, couple's relationships, infidelity, grief and loss, divorce, family violence, sexual abuse, and sexual assault. Most people struggle in relationships with others at some point in their lives; this is part of being human. We can benefit from talking things through.

I have been a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor for 25 years. Understanding the loss that comes with addiction, my goal is to help people gain tools for recovery and stability, to create accountability and support, to help restore relationships, to give hope and encouragement. My experience has been within the judicial system/Board of Pardons and Paroles, psychiatric hospitals, wilderness treatment programs, therapeutic boarding schools, treatment facilities and private practice. I work with adolescents, young adults, adults and couples...and their families.

I work with younger people (10-12), adolescents (13-18), emerging adults (19-29), and older clients. In addition to depression/anxiety, my work with younger people includes divorce, school, peer, and various other behavioral issues; with adolescents: freedom/responsibility, identity formation, emotion regulation, and effective communication; with emerging adults: career counseling, independent living, and addressing unfinished business. I also have a background in high school education. With all clients I meet them where they're at and strive to unlock their greatest potential.

My approach with clients is to begin where you are and identify specific goals for your situation. I do this by helping to discover the strengths you already possess and build a plan from there. I believe that each person has the full capacity and ability to heal no matter the hurdles or the history. I am a Latina immigrant, a native Spanish speaker, and a naturalized United States Citizen since 1987. After learning English, I graduated from The University of Georgia, undergraduate and graduate school, with the highest academic honors. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 35 years of education and practical experience which are the foundation of my clinical practice.

Therapy is a process where people can feel emotionally safe. Therapy provides a time and place to focus upon problem solving, growing, and making changes to achieve goals. I meet with children, adolescents, adults, families, and couples to address behavioral, emotional, and relational issues. I offer behavioral, emotional, and relational therapeutic interventions to assist my clients. Personal effectiveness and self awareness are important in making choices to promote positive results in life experiences of school, work, and relationships.

I believe it is imperative that as counselors we work diligently to help clients identify, accept, and work through their limiting ideas. The Atlanta Behavioral Clinic specializes in working with young children and their families and caregivers, with some services beginning before 1 year old. Our approach is comprehensive. Our practice typically centers around working with clients and families to improve a child's behaviors using Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA), however, we also assist with Autism evaluations, offer play therapy, TF-CBT, family counseling, parent and caregiver coaching, support groups, and other services.
