Through trauma focused and chronic stress modalities, we process past and present stuck imprints to bring the body and mind back to a balanced state.
I am passionate about providing education and empowerment around the mind-body connection. We learn to understand how the mind and body may be in survival mode and how a learned response may no longer serve us. Holding space allows for the body and mind to create space from imprinted thoughts & emotions in order to see choice in self-talk, belief systems, behaviors, and gain acceptance of ourselves. We learn how to rewire/rewrite our narrative through self-compassion.

Are you a teenage or adult woman struggling with anxiety, panic, the impact of trauma or chronic stress and feel like traditional talk therapy hasn't worked for you? Do you need practical tools to help you manage overwhelming emotions and take back control of your life? I get it, I've been there too. Some of the symptoms my clients (and myself) have experienced are excessive worry, difficulty calming down or finding safety in their body, difficulty regulating their emotions, difficulty identifying and expressing needs / boundaries and burnout from people pleasing / care-taking.

I help with past trauma, by working with your body and your psychology - not against them.
What would it be like if you don't have to be good? What if you don't have to guard yourself with a thousand apologies for presumed infractions? I see you, tender heart. You're anxious... and exhausted. And can we talk about the off-brand crankiness you feel so guilty about? I know you wish you weren’t, but you’re sensitive. Your superpower? You can tell with stunning accuracy what anyone around you is feeling and make sense of why they do what they do. This makes you great in a crisis and a deft caregiver. But you can’t turn it off, so you struggle to know what your own needs and boundaries are, let alone meet them.

I see a wide range of clients who face a variety of challenges: trauma, relationship difficulties, low self esteem, anxiety, depression, major life transitions, stress management, family conflict, and relationship challenges.
Acceptance, I think this is something that we strive for the most in life and it is also one of the hardest things we struggle with. It is hard for us to find ways to be true to ourselves and also feel like we are meeting the needs and demands of the world around us. I would very much like to help you find that balance. It is my goal to offer a place for you to examine yourself and what makes you, you and figure out the most helpful ways of expressing that person to the world around you. I believe a sense of humor is important and learning to laugh at things can be healing.

In addition to eating disorders, my practice focuses on grief counseling, depression, anxiety, assertiveness, relaxation, and PTSD for those in the military.
People often go into therapy feeling a great deal of shame, guilt and with secrets. It's important to me that the therapeutic environment I provide allow people to feel they are part of a non-judgmental, safe and warm environment. The goal of therapy is to help clients make behavioral changes and increase insight into the cause of those behaviors and the purpose they serve. I specialize in the treatment of eating disorders, emotional/stress eating, body image, depression and anxiety. In addition, I run groups for individuals struggling with binge eating disorder.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
