The mission of New Horizons Counseling Center (NHCC) is to provide quality therapeutic counseling services, regardless of ability to pay, in a welcoming and safe environment. All Therapists at NHCC are Licensed Clinical Professional Counselors (LCPC) in the State of Illinois. We serve all people with presenting problems within our clinical areas of expertise. We utilize evidence based treatment modalities to help our clients cope with the challenges they face. I have been a certified private practitioner since 1987. I believe in having a warm, friendly, and open approach to well-being. I have extensive experience with children, adolescents, adults, older adults, couples and families. One area of expertise is with special education and special needs children. I am certified as both a school social worker and a principal. Another area of expertise is with the caregivers of both older adults and children with disabilities. I am certified by Ross Greene, in his CPS approach. I currently have private practices in Arlington Heights and Evanston. I participate in several insurance panels.

Dr. RoseMary Cairo has been a clinically licensed therapist for over 20 years, and during this time she received her doctorate in Counselor Education and Supervision. Dr. Cairo strives to create a warm and safe environment that supports individuals and couples, who are looking to strengthen their lives and relationships emotionally, mentally, and spiritually.

For over 19 years, Branch has provided culturally relevant clinical mental health services to individuals, families and communities on Chicago's south side. Collectively, Branch staff has more than 50 years of clinical and administrative experience. We serve more than 1500 individuals and families each year at our Beverly and South Loop locations.

I have worked with many clients dealing with life issues involving depression, anxiety, transitions, loss, grief, and conflicts in relationships. I try to assist individuals to identify their personal strengths to best resolve and understand that life consists of various challenges and to come to terms with issues that are beyond their control without being a victim. I utilize a systemic theoretical approach based in positive thinking, acting, and living. My experience and educational background are directly related and have provided me with a well-rounded background in Therapy. I am a Military veteran with 30 plus years of experience working with patients in psychiatric hospitals, state mental health facilities, Illinois Department of Corrections, and in private practice. I am currently licensed to practice in Illinois, Kansas and Georgia. I also provide Tele-health service to Military members overseas (OCONUS).

Exploring strategies for life change is a fascinating endeavor. I partner with clients to help them create significant transformations, i.e. help change their point of view about problematic concerns, change behaviors that need to be increased or decreased and change longstanding destructive patterns to new life enhancing choices. I rely heavily on scientific findings to facilitate human change. There are varieties of effective traditional and modern psychological treatments such or eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR). Cognitive behavioral therapy is the gold standard for anxiety, depressions, phobias and fears.

I am Dr. Sylvia Kobe, and I am a Licensed Clinical psychologist. My associate Dr. Mary-Zitta Muabe and I collaborate to cover a broad counseling spectrum. Together Dr. Muabe and I specialize in marriage, family therapy, and spiritual maturity. We also work with teens, young adults, and individuals battling anxiety, depression, or struggles to cope with every-life issues. For many years, I have been helping my clients to lead happier and more fulfilling lives. One of my main psychotherapy approaches is cognitive-behavioral therapy, a well-established, efficient and effective form of psychotherapy. It directly targets the patient's thinking, and behavior, patterns that are producing psychological problems, and teaches the patient to change those patterns. In marital and family therapy, I help the parties to communicate better with one another and to reach agreements acceptable to all. If the children have behavior problems, I often help the parents to become more effective disciplinarians.
