After over a decade-and-a-half working in mental health, I am skilled in the latest, evidence-based therapies available (e.g., Relational Mindfulness and Acceptance & Commitment Therapy). But no single approach works for all people at all times and, remaining flexible, we will create a safe therapeutic environment with the best combination of techniques that works for you. So many different psychotherapies exist today because there is no one approach that works at all times.

I believe that you have the ability to achieve fulfilling life goals and to make healthy life choices for yourself. As a mental health therapist, my job is to be the tool to assist you in the decision-making process and to achieve those goals. I have worked across all levels of care - from outpatient therapy services all the way up to psychiatric hospitals - while treating a variety of issues for teens and adults.

The path to healing requires focusing some time and attention on the wounds you carry. Woundedness is the soul's voice demanding to be attended to rather than quieted. **Now Accepting New Clients** I see adults and adolescents who typically present with anxiety and/or depression. If I had to name just one specialty, it would be anxiety. Most people suffer some form of it at some point in their lives. When left untreated, it can lead to more severe symptoms and a whole host of diagnoses. I practice primarily Cognitive Behavioral techniques. I will talk to you about your beliefs, expectations, and how you experience the world. I'll teach you to be more accepting of yourself, so you can stop judging and reacting from created stories. I will also help you improve foundational behaviors.

I enjoy working with clients seeking to grow emotionally, spiritually and relationally. I believe therapy is an opportunity to journey deeper areas of self awareness and a greater understanding of who we have been created to be. I am relational in my approach to counseling. Imani Behavioral Health was started in May of 2018 as a way to serve the community with a multicultural team of professionals providing quality services through a multitude of therapeutic specialties. As the company grew and clientele increased; we began to realize the difficulty of finding a mental health agency that provides quality services to accommodate everyone’s various needs. Joleena is Certified in the Treament of Sexual Addiction, is a Certified Betrayal Trauma Coach, a Certified Clinical Trauma and Addiction Specialist, with a Masters of Psychology in Grief Counseling, and a Bachelors of Science in Psychology.
