Do you feel overwhelmed by stress and worry? Is every day filled with anxiety or sadness? Perhaps you lack confidence and struggle with self-esteem issues? Do you feel that you are not in control of your life? Is all of this making it harder and harder to cope with everyday life? I know what it means to get to a place where you can have peace, self-acceptance and contentment, where you can find meaning and happiness in your life, whatever you decide to accomplish.

Need a space to care for yourself and tend to your own needs? I welcome you. Healing through therapy, although sometimes stigmatized, is an experience that most of us need in the current world. Our lives have been disrupted by unexpected and devastating events, which intensifies our stress, anxiety and loneliness. There is no better time to connect. Partnering with me, you can create a space where you feel comfortable connecting with your tender parts, discovering your strength, and most importantly, being your genuine self with no apology. That’s my experience as a client of therapy, and also what I want to offer you.

At times in life, we find ourselves overwhelmed; in states of persistent mental or emotional distress, stuck in patterns that no longer serve us, and questioning which path best serves us. With greater consciousness of our patterns of thought, feeling and behavior, we can develop the capacity to meet these moments with the wisdom of our whole selves. By connecting more fully to our emotions, we can access our innate healing process and move towards greater integration. In honoring your unique story, we can explore how life’s suffering may be pointing you towards greater wholeness and a life of meaning.

My areas of practice include but are not limited to mood, anxiety and personality disorders, psychological trauma, loss, relational conflicts, emotional dysregulation, self-harm, HIV/AIDS, and general work/school related stress.
My approach to treatment is a supportive, validating and compassionate one, incorporating various styles of practice including insight oriented, relational, Cognitive-Behavioral (CBT) and/or Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT). Each individual has his or her own needs and preferences. This could include either a goal specific, time limited treatment or an insight oriented approach in which they are looking for a space to make meaning of various experiences and understand their impact on the self. A comfortable, trusting, and collaborative therapeutic relationship is an essential foundation necessary to make the changes one of looking for.

Do you ever feel like your mind won't stop racing? Like your worries are taking over? You find yourself feeling on edge much of the time-you snap at your kids or partner, you can't focus at work, you don't sleep well. Maybe you can't help feeling like you aren't good enough, or have a nagging sense of what you "should" be doing, how you "should" feel, how you "should" be. Perhaps you feel a sense of shame about who you are or things you have experienced, and this makes it hard just to get through the day. It's all so overwhelming...you just want to feel normal again, but you can't even remember what "normal" feels like.

Do you feel unsatisfied, stuck, or anxious in your relationships? You watch as other people go on to have successful relationships while you feel stuck in repeat. Are you on the verge of divorce? You might be driven in other areas of your life but feel like you can't quite hack it when it comes to relationships. You might have tried a plethora of therapists in the past that don’t connect with you or seem not to understand where you are coming from. You are looking for someone to tell you like it is, understands where you are coming from, and invest in your future success.

Grief Therapists

How long does therapy take for grief?

There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.

When should you seek therapy for grief?

Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.

Can grief be managed without therapy?

Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.

What happens if grief is left untreated?

Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
