Perhaps you're seeking emotional understanding or spiritual guidance. Perhaps you're a young aspiring professional, or a more middle-aged partial success story, maybe with a family. Despite success in parts of your universe, you've discovered an emptiness or impasse that keeps you from peace and fulfillment. Whether it's an invisible existential spiritual void screaming for a new source of security, or life's common woes of financial pressure, infidelity, career confusion, and dealing with bullies, we all at some point need spiritual, emotional, and practical guidance. The wise realize it's a great power to be able to ask for help.

I use an integrative approach that is informed by psychodynamic therapy, CBT, ACT, and DBT.
Are you experiencing difficulty with navigating life transitions such as exiting a relationship, graduating from college, or changing careers? Are you struggling to address frustrating patterns that seem to keep turning up? Do these experiences leave you feeling ashamed, unsure of yourself, or lost? I am prepared to support you with shifting away from fear of failure, patterns of negative self-talk, and limiting beliefs toward developing the insight and skills needed to manage difficult emotions, overcome obstacles, strengthen relationships, and connect to your power and potential.

Are you seeking to make positive changes in your life but are not sure where to begin? Then know you are not alone and that you have come to the right place. Seeking treatment can be challenging but also incredibly rewarding when provided with a safe space to explore what is most important to you, what worries you, what might make you sad or feel out of control, as well as what your hopes and dreams are for your life. We will collaboratively develop goals for our work together and strive towards achieving those by exploring your current situation, your background, and your history of relationships and experiences.

As a native New Yorker, business owner, and busy parent, I understand the difficulty in saying "no", setting boundaries, and maintaining relationships outside of the family. You may feel guilt or shame for taking time for yourself. You may feel like you have no idea what you're doing at times, and perhaps burnout that makes you feel like you're hanging on by a thread. You may feel like you're always doing something but at the same time feel like you're not doing enough. That's because you're not prioritizing your own needs. I work with parents, particularly parents who have had pre-term babies and children who are differently abled.

People struggle at different life stages. Human beings grow from the pain and sufferings. It is hard to be stuck in the dark alone and feel like nobody is there for you.If you feel depressed, anxious and stuck in your life, I will provide a safe place to explore your authentic self. If your children struggle with developmental/speech delay or have behavioral problems, I will provide play therapy/art therapy to understand children's inner world and help them develop a healthy sense of self and relationship with others.

Are you having trouble navigating relationships with friends, loved ones, and colleagues? Are you feeling like your emotions are getting too big to handle? Or are you just feeling down on yourself lately? You might feel like you are constantly being misunderstood by those around you, which may lead you either to push people away or violate your own boundaries by people-pleasing. You may even find that you are comparing yourself to others, which is becoming detrimental to how you see yourself. But you don’t have to go at it alone.

Do you feel chronically disconnected or stuck in unhelpful patterns despite "knowing better"? This misalignment might be affecting your physical health, your relationships, your sense of self, and your visions for the future. While many of the strategies you relied upon in early life were both necessary and adaptive, they can also become what hold you back later in life. What if we explore some of your origin stories and update those defaults to better reflect who you are, instead of who you believed you had to be? What if we deepen your self-belonging, thereby strengthening your capacity to connect more effortlessly with others?

I am very fortunate to combine my three loves: people, psychology and dogs. Over the years my dogs have accompanied me to my office and have been of great therapeutic value and pleasure in their interaction with patients of all ages. Therapy is an exciting adventure in which therapist and patient agree to explore the patient's life, dreams, problems, fears, hopes and aspirations. As therapist it is my responsibility to guide: sometimes lead, share and always to jointly explore who the individual is. While everyones' therapy is different, therapy is the opportunity to pull ones' life together and develop the courage to change.

I am a Latina social worker passionate about helping children, youth, and families realize their true potential, because when you feel better you do better! I employ a strengths-based and empathic approach to remote therapy sessions. I truly believe meeting a patient where they are at in life, is essential to building a strong therapeutic relationship. I let patient's guide therapy sessions and provide evidenced-based techniques to support a patient's growth in times of vulnerability. I believe that everyone has strengths and qualities that can be built on in order to achieve a healthier state of mind.

Is it difficult for you to set healthy boundaries in relationships? Do you feel depleted because the more you give, the less you get in return? Or Perhaps you are tired of the racing thoughts, overthinking and negative view of life. You feel like you lack purpose and you no longer know who you are or perhaps never did. Surviving but not really LIVING and you ask yourself, "Will this be my life forever?" My approach is to empower clients by helping them become aware of the patterns they're currently engaging in that are not serving them and providing them with the tools to build the life they are deserving of living.

Psychodynamic Therapists

Is psychodynamic therapy evidence-based?

Studies have found psychodynamic therapy to be effective in treating conditions like social anxiety, eating disorders, chronic pain, some personality disorders, and depression; indeed, some studies have found it to be just as effective as CBT or medication. What’s more, several studies have found that the benefits of psychodynamic therapy tend to endure—even grow—long after treatment has ended.

How long does psychodynamic therapy last?

Unlike CBT and other more structured forms of therapy, psychodynamic therapy tends to be open-ended and may not be limited to a set number of sessions. It is common for clients to be in therapy for a year or longer and to see their therapist one to three times a week, though the exact schedule and timeline may vary depending on a client’s challenges and progress. However, brief psychodynamic therapy is available, which tends to be more goal-oriented and typically unfolds over 16 to 30 sessions.

Does psychodynamic therapy work?

Research finds that psychodynamic therapy can help someone manage or reduce symptoms of diagnosable mental health conditions like depression or anxiety. The modality may also offer a range of benefits that are harder to measure but just as valuable—such as increased self-worth or healthier relationships. While no therapy type will work for everyone, research and anecdotal evidence suggest that psychodynamic therapy can be highly effective.

What are the limitations of psychodynamic therapy?

Some meta-analyses have concluded that there is little evidence to suggest that psychodynamic therapy can effectively treat certain mental health conditions such as PTSD, OCD, or psychosis, though it is sometimes used to do so. More broadly, the open-ended, free-association structure of psychodynamic therapy may be frustrating for clients who prefer a more structured, time-limited, or goal-oriented approach.
