I use a trauma-informed approach, combining CBT, attachment-based, and psychodynamic techniques to personalize your therapy.
Feeling Stuck? You're Not Alone. Are you struggling with anxiety, depression, or the effects of past trauma? You don't have to face them alone. As a therapist and fellow human being, I'm here to walk beside you on your journey of self-discovery. I prioritize creating a safe and confidential space where you feel seen, heard, and understood. While harmful experiences often happen in relationships, a safe therapeutic relationship can be the catalyst for tremendous growth and healing. My ideal client is someone ready to break free from the impacts of past trauma and embrace personal and relational growth.

I work relationally and experientially, from an attachment-based, emotion-focused and trauma-informed lens, which supports the development of safety and connection in the space I share with clients.
You know that feeling of disconnection between your head and your heart? When you're struggling and know that the feedback you're getting from trusted loved ones is logical, but for some reason it just isn't making you feel better? If you could just "think" or "do" your way out of pain, you probably wouldn't be here. Emotions always show up for good reason - even when they don't seem to fit. God created the spectrum of emotions to be felt, seen, heard, and understood. When we don't have a safe place to explore them, they get ignored, buried, stuck, and confusing, and they can no longer do their job. This creates disconnection.

With children and families, I utilize attachment-based interventions, play therapy and parent-child psychotherapy.
Understanding the dynamics behind the repeating processes in your life, whether they are symptoms or undesirable patterns, is the first step for meaningful and durable change. I work with both adults and children who have different forms of anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship issues, or stressful life transitions. I also work with children who present with developmental or behavioral issues.

I use a psychodynamic, attachment-based framework and balance careful listening with thoughtful probing.
As humans, we tend to avoid our more difficult and complex emotions in hopes that they will disappear. However, it is more often the case that the feelings we turn inward find their way out, and sometimes in a less-than-ideal way. Therapy is a unique space to explore the parts of you that tend to stay hidden. It is a space to “look beneath the hood” to understand more fully who you are and "why" you are. With this newfound insight, we can explore ways for you to engage more fully in your life and relationships, dig into your sense of purpose, and reconnect with (or discover for the first time) feelings of stillness and joy.

Using evidence-based, trauma-informed modalities, such as EMDR, and attachment-based approaches, I help adults identify negative core beliefs they may hold about themselves so they can replace them with more reality-based perspectives and insights.
What’s keeping you from living the life you envision? Let’s figure that out together. Everyone can benefit from counseling to get through a rough time, a life transition, relationship difficulties or a break-up, a job loss or big promotion, present and past traumas, family conflict, aging, imposter syndrome, self-doubt, difficulty with boundaries, and more. If you’re willing to uncover what's getting in your way, I can help you break through barriers, let go of what weighs you down, develop better coping skills, tap into your strengths, and live more authentically.

I incorporate psychodynamic, attachment-based, mindfulness-based, and humanistic theories in my practice.
Many of us spend a long time running away from the true essence of ourselves. We abandon ourselves to be accepted by others or praised by a society that wants a specific version of us. This ultimately leads us with pain that we find various ways to numb. Together, we can explore, feel, and heal this pain.

I practice from an integrative perspective, focusing on creating a healing and empathetic relationship that incorporates a range of evidence-based modalities to move towards a more fulfilling, resilient, and harmonious life. I’m particularly drawn to working within the Internal Family Systems model, an attachment-based modality that uplifts the complexity and wisdom of our internal worlds and strengthens our inherent capacity to heal burdened parts of our systems and develop compassionate, strengths-based relationships with ourselves and others.

Working through the lens of attachment and Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy, I support clients with navigating religious or attachment-based childhood trauma, familial or cultural expectations (including around gender and sexuality), and ordinary day-to-day experiences.
If you're feeling overwhelmed by anxiety, depression, grappling with grief, or carrying the weight of loneliness, guilt, or shame, know that you're not alone. If you identify as Queer and/or BI/POC, navigating these emotions within cultural and familial dynamics can feel like an uphill journey. But you don't have to climb that mountain by yourself. I'm here to offer a warm and compassionate space to feel your emotions without fear or judgment, process attachment and trauma experiences, and uncover patterns rooted in childhood.

My specialties include Men, Couples Therapy, Attachment-based Trauma, and Sexuality/Intimacy struggles.
I strive to be a therapist who is challenging and direct without being judgmental; is open-minded and encouraging of my clients to explore options in their lives that may be different than my own or others around them. I am someone who doesn't rush to diagnose and pathologize, but rather seeks to understand. I am not invested in the choices my clients make, I am invested in my clients making choices from a place of wholeheartedness. And specifically, I have a keen understanding of the intricacies of intimacy and sexuality within relationship to oneself and community. As long as we "fail forward" together, we are perfectly imperfect

Attachment-based Therapists

Is attachment-based therapy the same as attachment therapy?

Attachment-based therapy may be confused with what is called “attachment therapy” (sometimes called “holding therapy”), a discredited and dangerous approach to treating children with attachment disorders, autism, or other mental health concerns. Attachment therapy—not attachment-based therapy—may involve restraining a child, forcing eye contact, and other coercive or abusive techniques. None of these practices are used in attachment-based therapy and the two modalities are in no way related.

What should I expect from attachment-based therapy?

Attachment-based therapy is based on attachment theory, which posits that children’s early relationships with their caregivers strongly influence their ability to navigate the world later in life. Thus, adults who seek attachment-based therapy should expect to deeply explore their childhood, identifying the dynamics or experiences that disrupted their attachment and the steps necessary to overcome challenges that arose as a result. Parents and children should expect to explore the possible factors that disrupted the parent-child relationship and work toward restoring trust and connection.

How long does attachment-based therapy last?

Certain forms of attachment-based therapy, especially those designed for parents and children, last for a set number of sessions; for example, Attachment and Biobehavioral Catch-Up, a specific attachment-based approach for young children who have undergone early adversity, unfolds over 10 one-hour sessions. When attachment-based therapy is practiced on adults or combined with other modalities, it may not last a specific length of time; clients may wish to ask prospective therapists how long they expect treatment to take.

Does attachment-based therapy work?

Most of the research on attachment-based therapy focuses on children and adolescents. Some of this research shows a positive effect, especially for attachment-based family therapy (ABFT). Other studies, however, have found that attachment-based therapy is no more effective than other approaches to childhood depression, anxiety, or suicidality. Less is known about the therapy’s efficacy on adult populations.
