I offer a safe, creative and engaging space to nurture your growth. We often work against our emotional selves when trying to accomplish our goals. But you can align your feelings, values and actions to overcome the self-defeating patterns and false assumptions that undermine success. I support clients in developing and realizing their motivation for change, at the pace and in the direction of their choosing. In session you will find a warm, thoughtful and considered presence as you take your next steps.

It can be an overwhelming process to find a therapist. It takes a lot of strength to ask for help and it is amazing that you are here. I work with adults, couples, and adolescent navigating relationships, parenthood, career challenges, shame, low self esteem and the infertility/postpartum period. People often come to me during life transitions hoping to form new and healthier patterns. They often describe feeling stuck, unmotivated, anxious or depressed and revert to unsuccessful habits. I will work with you to create a space where we can safely explore your thoughts, overcome obstacles and build a more fulfilling life.

It can be a daunting process to recognize your need for therapy and reach out for your first appointment. But if you're here, I commend you for taking this significant first step to begin your journey of healing. Our bodies may carry the scars of verbal, emotional, physical, or sexual abuse, as well as lingering grief or resentment from our past. My goal is to guide you patiently, allowing you to access your unconscious mind at your own pace. Together, we'll work towards revisiting those painful inner monologues and achieving inner healing and growth.

If you are unsatisfied with how you feel day to day, the quality of relationships in your life, or your professional accomplishments you should consider beginning therapy. Can you speak your mind in important relationships? I work vigorously in my relationship with you. Like all therapists I will listen and question. But I will also actively challenge and confront the obstacles we discover together. We will speak about the present, and the past to the extent that it helps us understand your life now.

We all experience difficult moments in our lives, and usually we have the tools to handle them. But when we consistently feel overwhelmed, stuck, trapped, fearful, helpless or empty, psychotherapy can help us become more conscious of what's behind our troubles and move to resolve them. as a result, relationships, self-esteem and life circumstances can improve. I work to develop a caring, supportive and trusting relationship with my clients, so they can feel safe to explore their past, honestly look at their feelings, thoughts and behaviors, and move towards positive change.

You begin to heal when you feel heard and understood. You are unique; no one is you, and that’s your greatest power. YOU are in control, but that doesn’t mean you have to do it alone! Life can be overwhelming and difficult to manage at times, choosing to face challenges and work on yourself can be scary. It takes creativity, courage, and self-awareness to make healthy changes. Working in a non-judgmental and empathetic environment with a positive therapeutic connection can help you tap into your own ability to explore and overcome the challenges in your life.

I have worked with many individuals dealing with anxiety, relationship issues, life transitions, chronic illnesses, and difficult family situations.
Are you a young adult that deals with chronic anxiety and thoughts that make you feel stuck and overwhelmed? Do you feel unsure about your career, your relationships, or how to handle your family? Is being an adult hard sometimes and you want to talk about it? If you answered yes to any of these questions, let’s chat. In therapy we can identify the root causes and we can make behavioral changes so you don’t feel so stuck. Using my education in Advanced Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, we can figure out what's not working. For more information please see my website: OpenDoorTherapy.squarespace.com

Being a person is not easy. We are challenged everyday. Feelings of anxiety and depression are part of being a human being. The great skill is learning how to deal with these uncomfortable emotions. We can control how we think and act, but most people need encouragement, support, and knowledge to do this. As your therapist, I can support and guide you through this process. In addition I can teach you how to accept yourself with all your strengths and weaknesses and help you to identify and achieve your goals.

My practice is limited to adults who are wishing help with problems related to anxiety, depression, interpersonal relationships, child rearing and stress management. I have been in practice for over 25 years seeing individuals and couples. During the initial consultation, we will talk about the concerns that bring you to consult with a mental health professional. We will discuss the history of your concern. Once I understand the issues presented I will make a recommendation of how to proceed.

Relationship Issues Therapists
While need for human connection appears to be innate, the ability to form healthy, loving relationships is learned. Some evidence suggests that the ability to form a stable relationship starts to form in infancy, in a child's earliest experiences with a caregiver who reliably meets the infant's needs for food, care, warmth, protection, stimulation, and social contact. Such relationships are not destiny, but they are theorized to establish deeply ingrained patterns of relating to others. The end of a relationship, however, is often a source of great psychological anguish.
