Whether you are coming to therapy for anxiety, depression, grief, relationship issues, a life change, or just a general sense of unease, facing these issues can be scary. Healing isn’t easy because it involves confronting our pain and hurts. Healing can also be full of joy, hope, connection, and freedom as we experience new possibilities of being and relating. My approach is warm, relational, and integrative. I strive to offer a space where you can feel safe enough to look inward – to gently and compassionately welcome all parts of yourself with less judgment and shame.

My goal as your therapist is to help you be the happiest version of yourself. I believe we all need to work on ourselves on a daily basis to improve our lives and our outlook. The day to day struggles of life, work, family, friends and finding the balance is a challenge that we all endure. While you may be in need of therapy to help with clinically diagnosed conditions, such as depression, anxiety, and many others, you might also be a healthy individual looking for extra support and guidance through a challenging situation and desire to move in a new direction in your life.

Hi, I'm Brigid! I'm a licensed therapist who works with adults and couples who want to feel more connected to themselves and the people they love. I specialize in two areas: relationships and trauma. If you're in a relationship that's stuck, I can help you and your partner take steps closer together and deepen your bond. If you've experienced a trauma that's still weighing on you, I can help you find healing. Maybe you've told yourself the same story again and again about what's been going wrong. I want to help you find a new way to envision your future, filled with the meaning and connections that are right for you.

In my 34 years of clinical experience, I have learned that people are far more capable of change than they realize. They change when they can make sense of both their thoughts and their feelings. Many people have been taught to use their head, but not their heart to understand themselves. They often do not understand the powerful impact of human emotion on the mind and body. My experience shows me that in order to truly grow and heal, people need to understand themselves differently to change. They also need to be respected for the knowledge that they already have.

I utilize an eclectic and integrative approach to therapy, incorporating Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), 12 Step Facilitation Therapy as well as Reality Based treatment techniques.
I believe the therapeutic process is most effective when an authentic connection is developed to lay the foundation for change. Therapy should ideally be a collaborative relationship in which the therapist and client work together to build fresh coping skills and achieve desired goals. I believe in creating a safe and non-judgmental environment in which clients can explore their own personal pathways to well-being.

I support those who are experiencing anxiety & depression and are looking for coping skills to help them. I can assist someone to uncover and understand the relationship that factors in their lives can have on their mental health symptoms. Additionally, I can help uncover negative patterns that maintain a lack of progress. An ideal client would be someone who comes to treatment open-minded, asks questions, and is open to sharing their thoughts, concerns, and questions. This way, the ideal collaboration between therapist and client can occur to achieve the most genuine success through treatment.

Integrative Therapists

What is integrative therapy?

Integrative therapy is a type of therapy that combines ideas and techniques from different therapeutic approaches depending on the needs of the individual client. By merging elements of different treatments, an integrative therapist aims to offer a more flexible approach than those who practice just one type of therapy.

How does integrative therapy work?

Integrative therapy approaches a client’s mental, physical, and emotional health in a holistic way to discover the sources of their unhealthy behavior patterns or other challenges and considers the approach most likely to lead to improvement. Among the techniques an integrative therapist may practice are cognitive-behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, EMDR, mindfulness, art or music therapy, psychodynamic therapy, breathwork, family systems therapy, gestalt therapy, and trauma-informed therapy. An integrative therapist regularly evaluates the client’s progress and is prepared to pivot to a different approach if progress stalls.

How long does integrative therapy last?

As with most forms of talk therapy, there is no set duration or end point for integrative therapy; people who find they are making progress typically continue until they feel they’ve addressed the issues that spurred them to seek treatment. New patients should understand that it may take some time for a therapist to land on a treatment approach that best meets their needs, but once they do, they should expect sessions to extend for a number of months, typically including at least 12 sessions.

How effective is integrative therapy?

There are hundreds of types of talk therapy, and research shows that while they vary in form, goals, and frequency, many if not all can produce similarly successful outcomes. But a single approach does not always deliver the greatest, or speediest, benefit, and so even therapists primarily trained in one model will use tools, language, techniques, or exercises from others to shape an effective treatment plan.
