In my practice I see clients of all ages, for therapy and testing/evaluations. I specialize in depression, anxiety, trauma, substance abuse/dependence, behavior disorders and family systems issues. Most of my clients present with a combination of symptoms. I tailor treatment to the specific needs of the client and use research proven techniques to meet the needs of the individual, or family, in a collaborative setting. I teach healthy coping skills to address a wide range of symptoms.

Whether we are aware or not, we often already enlist those around us to be our "therapist," to HEAR our problems. The problem with this is that your friends, family, neighbours, co-workers or even your hairstylist are not equipped for this role. Why? Because they may not be able to listen without bias, carry opinions, or maintain your confidentiality. My personal philosophy regarding therapy is to focus on the family unit and meet each individual member of the family where they are and treat them as an important part of the therapy. Parents often call me and state they need help for their child and my first response is to treat the child but consider the whole family unit as a part of the therapy treatment plan. Meeting the individual needs of the client is of the utmost importance.

At my core, I believe that play is an essential part of a human interaction. This is because I wholeheartedly believe that play should not end at a certain age, or when a child is “too old”. From a young age, play is how we learn boundaries and social skills. Play can also be used to process trauma, grief, anxiety, depression, and much more. Play therapy can help build trust and attachment with your child, while the both of you learn more helpful behaviors and how to express your emotions. I encourage a child’s caregivers to take an active role in the therapeutic process.

I have 28 years in the Deaf Education classroom as a teacher and have changed over to being a nationally certified counselor of the Deaf/HOH and their families. I am working towards my licensing in Oklahoma with Joy Oliver LPCS. She is my supervisor. I counsel Tuesdays through Friday using Sign Language and a Client Centered Therapeutic approach. I am comfortable in working with all age groups. I am a contract employee of Beacon Pointe and I can accept Medicaid clients.

I work with children, teens, and families. I also work with couples and individual adults. I use a family systems theoretical approach. I do play therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, and brief solution focused therapy. Outside of my private practice, I have been a school counselor, as well as, develop and lead social skills groups for kids.

I've had the privilege to journey with clients for over 25 years. My passion is working with those who've been marginalized or who experience themselves on the edges of community. I love witnessing clients do hard things, sit in difficult places, and face what scares them most.

FSC Kids is dedicated to providing quality play-based therapy and mental health services to help kids, adolescents, and families more effectively navigate the complexities and challenges of life. We have adequately equipped our therapists with the proper space and tools essential to meeting the goals established by each individual client. One unique aspect of our facility is our fully functional play therapy and sandtray rooms. These rooms will be utilized at therapists’ discretion based on the treatment plan of the child, teen, and/or family.
