Asking for help or seeking support is not a sign of weakness or deficiency, it is a sign of wisdom and a desire for personal growth. While challenging at times, the therapeutic process can be a great personal investment. I believe that humans are complex, resilient, and capable of change and overcoming. I work with individuals, adolescents to adults, needing mental health assistance or trauma focused therapies.

Waitlist through mid-May; daytime availability only at this time! Life is hard; while you’re capable of getting through it, it doesn’t have to be this hard. You’re surviving going to work, school, picking up the kids, turning in homework, and doing everything you need but maybe you’re feeling like you can’t catch your breath. If something big has happened or is happening this can snowball into making everyday life even more difficult. People tell you to practice self-care, but what does that even look like?

What if I told you that you could do talk therapy for years BUT if you don't address your MIND and BODY - not much will change? When we experience trauma, so does our body! In fact, our body is re-living the trauma long after the event is over. Our current physical, mental and emotional state are all clues, to what our body needs to process, to fully heal. Since our body remembers, it's important our body has a chance to process and feel safe again. Safety and comfort are the main principles to heal from all past trauma. Feeling safe again allows your mind and body to fully embrace healing.

Navigating the challenges of life can be incredibly demanding, and I wholeheartedly recognize the courage and vulnerability it takes to reach out for help. Throughout my career, I've had the privilege of sitting with truly remarkable humans who come into my office and let down their guard to share their authentic emotions and experiences. It's remarkable that in the world outside my office, these individuals often seem to present with flawless life and to "have it all". Yet, in my office, they reveal the emotions they've felt compelled to conceal in their pursuit of seeming "enough."

I work with individuals dealing with stress, anxiety, depression, ADHD, relationship issues, grief, self esteem issues, and trauma.
Hi! I work with adults and children, ages 6 and up. Each and every individual has a "story", or a past they are struggling with. The story of our lives contains the keys to understanding the personal problems that we experience and may often find that we are unable to resolve them on our own. My goal as your counselor is to help you feel one step closer to a new you, where you feel empowered and on a positive path to growth and well-being.

At some point, we often find ourselves struggling to get past a problem, whether that problem is with an important relationship, or an inner emotional struggle. I enjoy working with others to understand how one came to be in such conflict and how one can move from old ways of coping to newer healthier ways. I believe working from a relational perspective is an important way to create an atmosphere of trust. I strive to help my patients better understand their thoughts, feelings, and actions. The more we know about ourselves the more freedom we have to make better choices in work, play, and relationships.

Life throws almost everyone a curve ball at some point in their life. My primary goal is to provide you with a safe, caring environment in which, together, we can process the issues and the feelings around them, that disrupt the balance and harmony in your life. Identifying strengths you may have lost sight of, exploring options and challenging you to risk new thoughts and/or behaviors can help you rediscover the path you want to travel.

It’s hard to find a counselor with openings & even harder to find a highly trained psychotherapist with openings. If you’re reading this, I have openings. The patients that I see have often been to other practitioners in the field & did not get the help they needed. By & large, my patients get better. Here’s how: 1) specialized training+ that helped me understand why we are the way we are & what to do about it 2) 15 years experience with relationship/ mood problems, dissociative disorders, or personality disorders - I can walk you through a divorce or help you through a psychotic episode 3) thoughtful/ progressive continual learning

Trauma and PTSD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
