Here at Overcross Counseling and Equine Services LLC we work with clients with varying reasons for wanting to participate in counseling. We use our horse as co-facilitators to help engage our clients during the sessions. I love what I do.... I am grateful to have lived and worked with my wife these past 38 years. Together we have built a practice based on mutual respect and integrity. So it is no surprise, this is how we encourage individuals and couples to treat others in their life. I work with adolescents and adults, individuals and couples to heal hurts or find answers to confusing situations. Change can be difficult, but often necessary. I believe it is important to realize that change is optimal when an individual is truly motivated to make the effort to grow. Therapy provides a person with empathy, encouragement and understanding on how to change negative patterns. The relationship between client and therapist is very important so that each individual can feel comfortable to be open and honest. I often focus on brain and overall health to assist with those issues that may repeatedly cause a person to feel stuck; this includes talk therapy, neurofeedback, diet and nutrition, exercise, sleep hygiene and environment.

My goal as a therapist is to understand where you are in life and work to overcome the difficulties you are facing. I believe that the most important thing I can do as a therapist is to provide unconditional positive regard and a non-judgemental attitude, as well as research-based treatment. However, I also believe that Christ is the ultimate and true healer. While we can affect emotional, cognitive and behavioral changes, I believe that long-term health and healing is ultimately found at the foot of the Cross. Therefore, my preference is to take a more holistic approach addressing the body, soul and spirit.

The people I thoroughly enjoy working with the most are those that are tired of living a less than desirable life. They may not be sure how to get to an empowered, joyful, passionate way of life yet. They can sometimes describe their journey as traumatic, and they use words like “depressed”, “fearful”, and/or “anxious”. However, there’s something tugging inside of them that there has to be a way out of that dark, overwhelming hole that they currently call life. They want more for themselves even if it only starts with a small glimmer of hope.

I have been a Licensed Clinical Social Worker since 2019, and I have experience supporting young adults and adults with concerns such as addictions, substance use disorders, depression, anxiety, life transitions, relationship/ family issues, and anger management. Hi, I'm Philip Noel Sharp, MS, LADC and I am a Licensed Alcohol & Drug Counselor as well as a Certified Personal Trainer with fourteen years of experience helping people with drug and alcohol problems in a variety of settings. I am now combining physical fitness with recovery offering two services, substance abuse counseling combined with personal training.
