You're smart, successful, and seem to have it all together...yet you've lost track of who you are and what you're feeling. You wear this emotional mask on the outside, but your internal feelings and conflict tell a different story. Perhaps you're the one everyone counts on: family, friends, significant other, coworkers. Or maybe you're just feeling saturated by the stress and demands of life. Either way, you feel alone and overwhelmed. You're not sure who will understand you since you can't make sense of it yourself. Self-care is not your norm, but you've come to realize something's gotta give. It is time for a change.

Not accepting new clients
It takes courage to open our mouths and let out the words and emotions that terrify us, but that’s how we start to reclaim ourselves. It’s a sacred moment, when a client tells me “I’ve never said this out loud before”, yet there they are, spilling their pain and trusting me to hold it safely and carefully. It’s the moment when they realize they are not alone, that their story does matter.

This season of life feels intense and you're unsure where to turn, and even less sure what you'd say to someone who asked you how you're doing. You pause for a moment and if you answered honestly you'd say you're overwhelmed or burnt out or stressed. Maybe you'd say that you could really use a friend right now. If you were brave, you'd say that this season has been rough; that your emotions are taking up more space than you know how to manage; that your marriage is rocky and you don't know how to heal it; that you simply don't feel heard, understood, or seen; that you wish your parent's would "get you"; that you felt less alone.

One of the bravest things to do, is to walk through the shadows, remove the masks and welcome in your true self. You being here, demonstrates your ability to do just this! Therapy, is not a one sided conversation with a therapist hidden behind a clipboard, but instead a collaborative process between two humans. And I promise, I am as real as it can get (all quirks included.) My goal is to provide you a space to retell your story, build new meanings and achieve the life changes you are hoping for. You do not have to do this alone.

I work with individuals feeling stuck in old behavior patterns or stress; who are ready to create change. Change can feel vulnerable, but it is very brave and often where healing starts. You are the expert in your healing journey, and I am honored to be a supportive witness. I incorporate mindfulness techniques, “being with things the way they are”. I also use my somatic experiencing training to help individuals feel safer in their bodies. Selectively, I will use EMDR with clients who express readiness for reprocessing difficult memories or experiences. It is a privilege to support others' journey back to themselves.

Why would anyone choose to open up to a complete stranger about pain and difficulty that is intensely personal? We often keep our problems to ourselves - for lots of understandable reasons - until we hit a wall and, in the 11th hour of fleeting hope, the hurt propels us to reach out for help. I am no different; I’ve been there before, and my passion is meeting people in the hour of greatest need to offer help and hope. I would be honored to speak with you about working together for healing, growth, and transformation.

Grief Therapists

How long does therapy take for grief?

There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.

When should you seek therapy for grief?

Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.

Can grief be managed without therapy?

Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.

What happens if grief is left untreated?

Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
