In addition to talk therapy, I am skilled in somatic interventions, including Internal Family Systems, EMDR, and various heartful practices to provide the most comprehensive care possible.
Psychotherapy is one of the most powerful tools for transforming one's life, and seeking support takes courage. I specialize in working with teenagers, young adults, and families and the obstacles they face throughout life transitions. I am particularly interested in supporting parents through complex challenges ranging from pregnancy and infertility, adulting teen difficulties and the college process, relationships and high achievement issues, divorce, and the "empty nest transition." As a heart-focused therapist, I am committed to empowering people to build the internal strengths and resources to live their desired life.

I specialize in working with clients who struggle with anxiety, postpartum disorders, and trauma. I am most aligned with Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT) and CBT, as well as other evidence-based therapies that support clients' progression from adversity to growth. A safe, collaborative therapy relationship is the foundation that allows clients to bravely try new ways of thinking and behaving. I work primarily with pregnant and postpartum women who have complex trauma histories.

I strongly value the uniqueness of every client's situation and therefore tailor treatment and sessions according to the specific needs and wants of each individual, couple, and family.
Finding a good match with a highly skilled and empathetic therapist is the key to lasting change. I am dedicated to assisting people in meeting their challenges in a safe and non-judgmental environment. I help clients realize their strengths so that they can proceed with a sense of empowerment and self-influence. When I enable people to recognize, understand, and shift counterproductive patterns of behavior, they begin to reach their personal goals and lead happier and more satisfying lives.

You may be struggling in a situation that, for whatever reasons, is not improving as you had hoped it would. And now you might be experiencing unwanted emotions related to COVID-19; relationship struggles; parenting; marital difficulties; family conflict; a recent trauma; or something else that is painfully impacting you and one or more of your relationships. Are you losing sleep, feeling sad, anxious, depressed, confused, or feeling helpless right now? Feeling stuck? If so and you're here, you're probably tired of trying to figure all of this out by yourself. The good news is you don't have to be alone with all of this anymore.

I am a specialist in grief, loss and trauma encompassing the entire spectrum of women's maternal mental health. I help women(and their partners) with healthy pregnancies, postpartum depression and anxiety, pregnancy loss, terminations and infertility - whether through stillbirth, miscarriage, late term loss, IVF/IUI failures, selective termination or pregnancy releases (aka abortion). Sadly, 1 in 4 pregnancies end in miscarriage and 1 in 8 will have trouble with conception. I blend psychology, ritual, spirituality, reiki, energy healing, guided meditations and more to help facilitate and support women, couples and families.

Family Therapy

What do family therapists do?

A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.

How long does therapy for families take to work?

Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.

How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?

You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.

Is therapy for families effective?

Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
