It's imperative that we have a trusting therapeutic relationship and that you have an opportunity to ask questions or tell me about your goals before we get started.
I believe therapy is about active collaboration and discovery. Together we will explore how your current patterns either support your happiness or contribute to your struggle. Areas of distress are commonly patterns that repeat over and over----in how we cope, our self-esteem, and our relationships. Common psychological symptoms such as anxiety and depression can often be linked back to the way we relate to the world, ourselves, and others. You're the expert on you. Once we've identified the underlying patterns, we can work together to develop a new way of interacting with the world around you and the people in it.

Hi! I'm Yolanda. I'm an open-minded mental health therapist, licensed in the state of Florida. I've been practicing approximately 14 years. However, I joke that I've been a therapist since I was 12 years old because I've always sought resolution, peace, and togetherness. My expertise in relationship counseling comes from working with many families over the years. Relationships can be hard at times because there are ongoing situations and circumstances that challenge them. There are effective ways to get through the tough times. I can help you implement effective tools needed to attain and maintain healthy relationships.

Welcome! I’m so happy that you are making the steps forward. This first step is quite difficult. Since you're here, you should know you are not alone! I find myself drawn toward conversational-based therapy, where we are able to develop a relationship based on foundations of trust and honesty. When I say conversational-based therapy, I mean that I utilize a client-centered approach, while also using cognitive behavior therapy (CBT) to help challenge spots where you might be stuck and help you see a different perspective. At the same time, I am in no way the expert of your life and am here to help you navigate this world.

I assist people in creating powerful changes in their family dynamics and interpersonal relationships. I believe we are all worthy of having our ideal relationship with ourselves and others. False beliefs and fears can cause us to lose our ability to fully enjoy life. Together we will work on eliminating those fears and false beliefs, and identify the goals that you want to achieve, towards a life you truly desire.

When the relationship is unhealthy, it can spread to our work-life, family-life, spiritual-life, and beyond.
I am currently taking new individuals and couples and this can be your first step to healthy! The ability to create meaningful relationships in our lives is one of the most important skills anyone can possess, yet so often, we find ourselves struggling to connect deeply because of our past or present experiences. It brings me joy every time I see an individual or couple work through those issues to connect, heal, and move forward in a more satisfying relationship.

If you find yourself just going through the motions of life or feeling overwhelmed, it may be time to check in with yourself. Perhaps you struggle to manage your thoughts, feelings, or behaviors, or you feel ashamed because "others have it worse." Most of us experience anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, or other personal challenges at some point in our lives. These challenges may result in feeling isolated, sad, angry, or even numb. When this happens, it is time to stop fighting our feelings and begin listening to them. It is my honor and privilege to support and guide you throughout this process.

Have a feeling there is a disconnect in your life? Experiences such as overwhelm, helplessness, over-thinking things, over-reacting in situations, relationship strain, mentally beating yourself up, or physical symptoms like recurrent headaches, stomachaches, or a rundown immune system are often signs that we are cut off from our highest self, the healthiest version of ourself. Trauma, in its many forms, can do this to us. It can hijack our nervous system so we respond to life in ways that do not support mental or physical wellbeing for us or our relationships. I want to help you heal and take back control of your life.

Relationship Issues Therapists
While need for human connection appears to be innate, the ability to form healthy, loving relationships is learned. Some evidence suggests that the ability to form a stable relationship starts to form in infancy, in a child's earliest experiences with a caregiver who reliably meets the infant's needs for food, care, warmth, protection, stimulation, and social contact. Such relationships are not destiny, but they are theorized to establish deeply ingrained patterns of relating to others. The end of a relationship, however, is often a source of great psychological anguish.
