Trauma can affect us in ways we are not always aware of. Healing can help us in ways we never knew were possible. Stressful and distressing life events can leave us feeling alone, wounded, anxious, sad, or angry. Until the trauma is healed, we may continue to stay stuck. I specialize in working with adolescents and adults (ages 14+), who are struggling with PTSD, C-PTSD, Depression, Anxiety, Stress, Self injury, Suicidality, Grief & Loss, OCD, Anger, and other uncomfortable emotions. By treating the potential trauma that lies beneath the surface, I can help you find peace and healing.

I am trained in professional counseling, specializing in trauma therapy including attachment work and somatic experiencing.
My ideal client is ready to show up for themselves. They have an idea or sense that there are things to work on. Maybe they know what the issues are or maybe they'd like some guidance through that exploration. The first step is seeking connection. A therapeutic relationship can be powerful towards setting and achieving goals! I understand there is a lot of stigma around mental health services. I have both personal and professional experience in this realm. I strive to create an open and safe space for clients regardless of where they are on their journey.

I believe therapy is a leap of faith taken to explore ourselves, where we’ve been, where we are, and where we hope to go. This step into the unknown can be scary, but I feel that through open communication and exploration, these steps can become powerful, moving, and exciting. Through my practice, I strive to create a safe and accepting space for all clients. Whether through trauma work, EMDR, life transitions, or art therapy, my goal is to support clients through their unique journeys with kindness, humor, and understanding. Therapy looks different for everyone, and I work to create a space that honors each person's experience.

I love working with individuals and groups who have experienced relationship or systems-based trauma, whether in childhood or adulthood. This can include physical, sexual, verbal, emotional, financial, spiritual, or systemic traumas and may be the result of abusive relationships or living as a marginalized individual in an inadequate and even harmful system. I believe that the "symptoms" associated with trauma don't occur because there is "something wrong with you." Rather, I believe that they are evidence of your body and mind's inherent wisdom and ability to establish safety and sovereignty over your own life.

I have a passion for working with complex trauma and prioritize helping clients become more grounded and connected to their bodies.
You may have come across my bio as you are considering therapy. It can feel scary and out of our comfort zones to ask for help, but I commend you for doing so. I strive to make therapy a safe space where you feel supported to learn about yourself and grow/heal in any way you find necessary. I like to approach the counseling relationship from a warm, empathetic, non-judgmental, and understanding viewpoint. I understand that trauma impacts us all differently, thus I strive to keep things relaxed and I am mindful to operate through a trauma-informed lens as we all come from different walks of life with various life experiences.

Some of my treatment specialities include PTSD/trauma symptoms, attachment styles, relational conflict, depression, anxiety, and self-esteem.
Collaborative and flexible is what I would describe my therapeutic approach. Therapy work with me isn't just talking about your feelings. Our work will include various options for you to choose from such as creating art, writing, watching a video, playing games, etc. Your options are limitless in my therapy sessions. My goal is to be training wheels on your bike and support and guide you until you are able to "ride" by yourself. I hope to provide a safe and authentic space for my clients to explore and process their emotions and thoughts, express themselves, and heal from past experiences.

My experiences span across 15 years, with the scope of my direct work supporting clients in their exploration of gender expression/transition, depression, anxiety, trauma, grief/loss and more- all within Allegheny County.
I see one of the most important roles as a therapist to be putting in the work to earn someone’s trust and walking beside them as an accomplice on their path towards growth. I don’t believe that people are “broken” or “need to be fixed”, but rather that somewhere within every person lies the capacity to generate change. I believe this change begins by finding someone trustworthy to support them through this process. And—that being kinder and gentler towards ourselves goes a long way to building the foundation for this change to occur.

I have 5+ years clinical experience of working with children and adults experiencing serious emotional and behavioral challenges, ADHD, ASD, PTSD, chronic illness, grief, and substance use.
Participating in therapy can help individuals to be healthier, happier and improve their overall quality of life. The therapeutic setting is a great place to explore the connection between thoughts/feelings/behaviors, identify triggers/patterns, develop new coping skills, learn to improve interpersonal relationships, process trauma and loss, and increase self-awareness in order to become the very best version of one’s self. As an LPC and art therapist, I use an eclectic approach to therapy aimed at trying to align clients with interventions that fit best for them as individuals.

I have experience with anxiety and depressive disorders, trauma, and adjustment issues.
I am passionate about helping individuals identify and overcome recurring patterns that may have developed early in life as a mechanism of coping, but are now creating issues in everyday life. I operate from a compassionate, collaborative and non-judgmental place to meet you where you are and help identify any barriers that are preventing you from reaching your full potential and living as your most authentic self. I work primarily with adolescents and adults.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
