Understanding why people suffer, how they change, and how to help them live more satisfying and gratifying lives is a fascinating, huge, and important undertaking. For this reason, finding a clinician with appropriate life experiences, training, humility, and willingness to learn what makes each person unique is one of the most difficult challenges for those seeking counseling/therapy today. I would like an opportunity to help you to live the life you have always wanted. "Change the way you look at things and the things you look at change."

In-person therapy will provide you with the space and safety to talk about your inner life as well as to identify habits as areas of behavior for change.
My clinical approach to therapy is based mainly on CBT and REBT techniques and facilitates mental, emotional and interpersonal shifts. By focusing on interactions, connections and problem solving mechanisms, I work to strengthen and enrich individuals, couples and families. I believe in direction and collaboration, coupled with warmth, empathy and acceptance, and an openness to change. I welcome clients that are motivated to grow and shift and open to insights and analysis, both self and that imparted by myself.

I bring empathy, optimism, and playfulness to my work with children. I work with children between the ages of 5-18 on coping skills related to friendships, challenges at school, and challenges at home. I am also a neuropsychologist and I conduct comprehensive neuropsychological and autism spectrum disorder evaluations with both children and adults. I understand how neurodevelopmental and mood disorders affect children and I know how to engage children surrounding these challenges. I was born outside the US, so I am sensitive to different cultural perspectives a child may be exposed to at home.

IFS Therapist with an eclectic and inventive approach. Practicing Internal Family Systems Therapy (IFS) and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT). I believe that people already have within themselves what they need in order to overcome their struggles. All it takes is a bit of guidance and someone to ask the right questions. My wish for my clients is that they find the inner freedom to live the life that they want. I mostly work with expats, travelers, digital nomads, burners - I can relate to the lifestyle and can appreciate the need for flexibility and rescheduling sessions when necessary, however, anyone is welcome.

There is something so valuable about every person having a space that is their own, and to feel safe enough to say and feel whatever comes up for them in that space. I work from these core beliefs: That curiosity leads to understanding, creativity + play can heal, and comfort is something many of us could use more of these days.

Behavioral Issues Therapists

What happens in therapy for behavioral issues?

No matter the type of therapy, individuals form an alliance with the therapist; that connection is often therapeutic in itself, plus it becomes an instrument of change. Individuals learn to identify situations that are especially troublesome for them and acquire new patterns of thinking and behaving. In therapy for ADHD, one of the most common behavior issues for children, individuals learn how to improve frustration tolerance, control impulsivity, manage attentional focus, and gain skills of self-organisation.

What therapy types help with behavioral issues?

Many types of therapy have been found effective, each targeting one or more areas of dysfunction. Perhaps best-known and most widely tested is cognitive and behavioral therapy (CBT), in which individuals learn new behavioral strategies and curb reactivity to frustrating or distressing situations that trigger disruptive behaviour. Anger, anxiety, mood disorders, impulse control problems are commonly addressed in CBT. Family therapy or parent management training is often helpful to reduce parent-child conflict and behavioral difficulties at home.

How long does therapy last for behavioral issues?

Among popular approaches to treating behavioral concerns, CBT is considered a short-term therapy intended to be administered in 15 to 20 weekly sessions. Parent training in behavior management, often used when the underlying cause of behavior issues is ADHD in children under 12, usually occurs in weekly sessions for 8 to 16 weeks. When behavioral issues stem from persistent aggression or defiance, therapy may last for months, and usually targets both children and their parents.

How effective is therapy for behavior issues?

Studies show that therapy for behavior issues in children is highly effective and may prevent the development of antisocial behavior later in life. Family intervention—parent management training or family therapy, both of which involve parents and children together—is considered most effective, notably for children under age 12 who persistently engage in aggressive, defiant, rule-breaking or other disruptive behavior. Whether provided alone or in combination with medication, CBT is highly effective in helping people regulate their emotions, and for people with ADHD, it addresses impulsiveness, hyperactivity and attentional focus.
