I know personally how hard it can be to experience sexual/physical/emotional trauma/addiction/depression/grief/financial/relational ruin/overwhelming anxiety. Hoping to get through a day with the jaw clenching/palm sweating/handshakes/thoughts racing/heart pounding/doubting every idea/thought/emotion, asking will this be forever? Sometimes, you experience paralyzing nightmares or dreams that you are moving in slow motion and feel so alone and isolated when in a crowded room. Moreover, the constant dread (or the invisible weighted depression blanket). I get it; I've lived it and worked with many others who have.

Congratulations on embarking upon the next step in your journey! Each of these steps — every experience of bliss, fear, frustration, or sorrow — have all lead you to this very moment. The challenges and complexities of your day-to-day life may have lead you here. The traumas, losses, and heartaches of the past have, too. And while I would rather that each of us would be spared these experiences — it is my hope that I may have a chance to partner alongside you as you grow and, ideally, heal from each of them.

You work hard to do the right thing, put in extra hours to meet deadlines at work, and show up for other people. But showing up for yourself is harder. Some of the people who look up to you probably think your life is easy: "You make it seem effortless." But they don't see how much work goes into holding it all together. You take pride in how well you tolerate stress, and caring for others can certainly be a wonderful thing. But everyone deserves support, including you.

Sometimes we feel alone, even in a crowd or with significant others. Pain, trauma, feeling different/misunderstood/unknown or even how we see ourselves can drive a wedge between us and the people and life experiences that matter most to us. If you are looking for someone who will join with you as you find your way through to a more meaningful way of living and toward more fulfilling relationships, then I welcome you to contact me for a free consultation.

The most helpful psychotherapy is a collaborative respectful relationship that honors your innate healing abilities. I will create a safe space for you to explore situations that are currently hindering you from living the life you desire. These might include past or recent traumatic experiences, behaviors that feel compulsive and/or harmful, life transitions, societal pressures, or the desire to "have it all together." Sometimes we seek relief in the wrong places which leaves us emotionally burnt out and seeking answers externally when the key to change is within.

Hi, I’m Tim. I’m so glad you’re here. I work with people exclusively using teletherapy. If you are open to that, then let’s work collaboratively to address obstacles impeding your journey toward a fulfilling life. In the realm of human existence and relationships, we encounter both challenges and opportunities for growth. By exploring these complexities and delving into our inner selves through the wisdom gained from contemplative analysis (mindfulness), we can better understand and resolve conflicts, mend broken connections, and heal from past traumas.

Every person I serve has a unique story. While some clients experience challenges in just one area, most experience difficulty multiple areas (mental health, trauma, loss, addiction), creating a complex, vicious cycle if not all parts are addressed. The circumstances that bring someone to therapy do not come in 'neat little packages.' I enjoy sorting out the pieces with each client, getting to the root of the issue, and offering a combination of evidence-based therapeutic interventions that help clients finally begin to experience relief, and start living a happier, more fulfilled life.

Our work is dedicated to helping ALL people develop healthy, satisfying, productive, and meaningful lives. Though it can be difficult to make the decision to begin therapy, we have found that those who have sought help and take responsibility for their emotional heath and relationships have achieved remarkable results. People come to us for a variety of reasons: they may be in transition, experiencing work stress, grieving a loss, struggling with religious or family ideals which no longer suit them, a new parent experiencing anxiety. Some have begun to feel daily life is stagnant, seeking more direction and purpose in their lives.

Obsessive-Compulsive (OCD) Therapists

How long does OCD treatment take?

Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is often treated on a weekly or twice-weekly schedule, depending on symptom severity and the client’s preferences. Some clients may start to see a noticeable improvement in symptoms in as little as six weeks, but it’s also possible, especially in more severe cases, for treatment to take several months to a year before significant progress is made.

What happens if OCD is not treated?

Some people with OCD, especially those with mild symptoms, may find that they are able to adapt reasonably well to life with the condition, even if their symptoms never resolve completely. However, many people, particularly those whose symptoms are severe at the outset, find that their obsessions and compulsions grow more intrusive with time, making it harder to maintain relationships, hold down a job, or navigate the world successfully.

Are there medications for OCD?

Medication can be used to treat OCD. The class of drugs most often prescribed are selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, or SSRIs, which include fluvoxamine (under the brand name Luvox), fluoxetine (Prozac), and sertraline (Zoloft), among others. In cases of treatment-resistant OCD, other classes of medication, such as tricyclic antidepressants or atypical antipsychotics, may be prescribed. Medication is frequently used in conjunction with therapy.

Can OCD come back after treatment?

Yes. Major life transitions, periods of stress, or other factors can cause symptoms to return or, if they were never fully eradicated, to ramp back up in intensity. For some, these relapses are brief and do not require additional treatment; identifying specific triggers and practicing the skills learned in therapy can help speed their course. For others, returning to therapy for a brief period can help address the underlying stress and strengthen coping mechanisms.
