I am a clinician with 11 years post master’s experience working with children, teens and adults. I have experience working with couples, individuals and their families. I prefer to work with individuals who are adults. I utilize a humanistic, client centered and strength-based approach. I utilize an eclectic approach to working with trauma, depression, anxiety that include Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy techniques. I am an ally for those who are LGBTQIA+ and an ally to the ENM lifestyle.

Treatment primarily for individual/family issues. Specializations: Grief/loss counseling, Trauma/PTSD and AOD support. Will provide Forensic assessments and counseling, Victims Assistance and case management upon request for domestic violence and other abuse related issues.

Associates in Family Care is a group private practice in Reynoldsburg, Ohio. I work with women and children because I am fiercely protective of these populations in my own life. There is a term in the therapy world called “wounded healer.” This term is from Carl Jung and research suggests that upwards of 70% of counselors and psychologist have had their own “wounding” experiences which led them to their career path. I work with these populations because my counselors and psychologists growing up helped me see through the fog of abusive parenting and romantic relationships. They helped me grow and heal, doing the only thing that they could- providing a safe space for me to cry, vent, be sorrowful, and share.

My ideal client is open about their issues and needs and motivated to work through them. My client's goal will be to build a foundation of good mental health that they can carry with them for the rest of their lives and use to improve their own lives as well as their family and friends. My ideal client comes to therapy because they want to be there and value what they can learn from their therapist and themselves.

I am passionate about trauma, depression, anxiety, LGBQT concerns, personality disorders, and neurodivergence. An ideal client is an individual who has a growth mindset and explores their thoughts and feelings and how they impact their behavior. They may not understand how those thoughts derived from past experiences, but they are willing to open old wounds given the right tools. They feel safe and secure and want to heal through hard work and determination.

The goal at Starks Counseling is to provide “hope and healing” in a calm, supportive, and non-judgmental therapeutic environment. My name is Sonja Josselyn. I am a licensed professional clinical counselor and I have over 7 years experience as a counselor of both children and adults. I have assisted with most types of mental health issues. Also, I have personal experience with infertility, adoption, divorce, and anxiety.

I have experience working with all types of anxiety disorders, mood disorders, and complex trauma. My secondary specialties include severe chronic mental illness, relationship problems, recovery from previous domestic violence, LTGBQ+ concerns, self-harm, and developmental or attachment wounds from childhood. I continue to take continuing education classes to improve my knowledge and skills in these areas.
