Although I treat a variety of psychological conditions, I have three main specialty areas. First, I specialize in treating children and adolescents with emotional and/or behavior problems such as ADHD, anxiety, depression, poor school performance, non compliant behavior, substance abuse, and emotional trauma from domestic violence or sexual abuse. I also specialize in working with children, families, and adults who are struggling with issues related to divorce and re-marriage. My third specialty area is treating relationship and marital problems.

No matter the reason a person seeks counseling, a listening ear and safe place to share can foster healing and allow progress toward wholeness. As your counselor, I hope to provide a space for you, free of judgement, where we address your concerns and help you work toward a fulfilled and free life. I work with a variety of different issues, including anxiety, depression, relationships, low self-esteem, grief, family systems, anger management and parenting concerns. I see women, men, adolescents, couples and families. My experience and education has given me knowledge on diverse approaches and orientations to use in counseling.

Hello! I am Kelly, a mental health therapist. My specialty is working with ADHD in adolescents and adults, as well as recently diagnosed adults. ADHD can have a crippling effect upon self esteem and general life functioning. I think ADHD is a gift and can allow us to operate and think in ways that can be very insightful. I have spent the last 4 years working in middle school, high schools and working with high level engineers and executives from major Seattle based companies with ADHD symptoms. I have been a clinical social worker for over 40 years. My training has taken me from psychoanalytic training to the more recent trends of mindfulness. My passion has always been to help clients reach their optimum potential---to unlock the courage to resolve their conflicts. As I work with families that have been involved in high conflict divorce, I strive to bring balance as the families adjust to their new configuration. I believe the ideal situation for children of divorce is to have parents who encourage and continue to support positive, nurturing relationships with each other.

I have been working in the counseling field since 2002. I have experience working with adolescents, families, and adults in individual, group, and family therapy settings. I started working with adolescents at an inpatient drug and alcohol rehabilitation center in Spokane. I then moved to Tri-Cities and began working at a community mental health center working with individuals with mental health needs. I received my bachelor's degree in Social Work and my Chemical Dependency License from Eastern Washington University in 2004 and my Master's degree in Social Work from Eastern in 2006.

As we encounter life's various problems, we occasionally find that professional help might be useful. I work with people who are looking for that additional professional assistance. Some of the most common reasons people come to work with me are depression, anxiety, relationship difficulties, low self-esteem and anger management, among several others. I also work with couples. For the first 15 years of my career I also worked training doctoral students on how to be therapists while maintaining a private practice on the side. This has given me invaluable insight into the therapy work I do now in my full-time private practice.

Dr. Whitmer treats individuals, couples, and families. His doctoral training in clinical psychology has prepared him to treat many mental health disorders with various interventions. Dr. Whitmer is board certified as a Certified Forensic Mental Health Evaluator and a Forensic Vocational Expert. He is nationally certified as Certified Rehabilitation Counselor, and is International Psychometric Evaluation Certified. Dr. Whitmer is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in Washington State.

I have been a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist for 34 years and helping heal families in my private practice for 24. I specialize in many areas such as child abuse, domestic violence, adoption and infertility related issues, grief, anxiety, depression, addiction, communication training and fair fighting techniques.
