As a therapist, I believe in empathy. Unconditional positive regard is high on my list of priorities when interacting with clients of mine. I believe that we are all, more alike than different. I seek to rid stigmas and to do away with labels. We are greater, together! I seek to make therapy feel easy peasy! I take an eclectic approach when dealing with each client because everyone is different. At times, I blend treatment modalities in an effort to meet clients where they are, while finding what works. Easy dialogue is the vehicle that makes things cohesive.

You may be feeling overwhelmed as you’re looking for a therapist and that is understandable. I like to offer a judgment free zone where you can come and be yourself. I work in tandem with the client on this journey, meet them where they are, if we encounter some road blocks we will conquer them together. I believe building rapport is one of the most important aspects of counseling, because who can teach me the most about themselves? The individual themselves I believe. The client teaches me as much as I can help them. Along this journey the client will learn coping skills and tools. We do this in a safe and welcome environment.

Do you ever look in the mirror and feel like a stranger is staring back? Have you wondered when you lost touch with who you really are? Maybe you've been on autopilot, feeling stuck, and constantly replaying past or future scenarios. Depression and anxiety are so common in our fast-paced world, but opening up about how you're feeling is the first step toward finding peace of mind. Nuestra cultura influye en la salud mental, y es tiempo de entender en lugar de ignorar.

*No evening or weekend appointments* Life can throw curve balls at us and when that happens it's helpful to have a trained professional who can help you process how to move forward. I have experience treating individuals, couples and families and significant experience dealing with cases of infidelity, divorce, anxiety and depression. Couples are a big focus for me but of course I also see individuals. I have a particular interest in clients dealing with anxiety, depression or have past trauma. I also do therapy with local celebrities who have unique concerns about privacy.

There are times in life when the challenges of life feel like they are hanging on like a weight. ADHD, emotional intensities, perfectionism, and underachievement are like crashing waves where you feel out of control. Events in your life hanging on into the present. So many things have been tried, for you or your child, yet no change. Those moments of frustration and discouragement continue to grow with no relief. Not knowing what to do makes this time feels discouraging, alone, and without hope. You want relief, a way to make it through, a way to move forward so that life can begin to feel more bearable and less like a struggle.

Do you find that you are comparing yourself to others on social media? It sucks to feel like you have to change who you are in order to match the images you see online. It's difficult when we have to deal with negative feelings, and all the criticism we give ourselves about our bodies.

Symptoms such as anxiety, anger, sadness, overthinking, self-criticism, despair, escapism, and self-injury freeze your ability to be fully you. They affect you at work or school, how you relate to others and how you view yourself. Psychotherapy with it's various modalities is the best approach to reduce symptoms, find better behaviors, and self-heal.

Congratulations! My name is Dr. C-Dub. You are taking the first step toward becoming the best version of yourself. Unfortunately, pain and suffering do not discriminate. However, the good news is that neither does healing. Deciding to receive therapy can be daunting; however, the results are often positive and rewarding if you are willing to put in the work. We all have or will experience some sort of life event that will leave us fractured. Many of our first fractures come from those we love most. These fractures can lead us down a path where we become stuck and unable to reach our full potential if they are not dealt with.

Life is unpredictable. Challenges are presented in our lives and despite our efforts to overcome them, we may become overwhelmed or feel hopeless in our efforts. Do you feel like you have lost yourself, even though you have tried so hard to stay afloat? Maybe you feel disconnected from the relationships in your life, leaving you feeling isolated or not heard. No one should have to go through tough times feeling like they are all alone. My goal is to be present with my clients and assist them in regaining their voice, build confidence, and create balance in their lives. I offer support for adults, teenagers, and couples.

It's always difficult asking for help to overcome problems in your life. It's common for people to feel like they are stuck & getting help with pulling yourself out of that rut is one of the best things you can do. As your psychologist, we will first spend time understanding each other, the situation, and then devise a plan of action to help you accomplish your goals. Then, we will work to develop & hone a set of strategies & skills, based on scientific research, that will help you to create the life that you want. Along the way we will trouble shoot, enhance, and customize your treatment to who you are & your history as a person.

FAQs - About Therapy and Counseling

How can I find a therapist in San Antonio?

Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Learn more about how to find a therapist

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors.

Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the United States could cost between $100 and $200 or more. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.

What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?

Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship. Therapists in the United States are bound by the regulations set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which aims to protect sensitive health information. With very few exceptions, a therapist will only discuss their client with others when the client has given their written permission. The instances in which a therapist would be required to disclose personal information are: if a client poses a danger to themselves or others, if the therapist suspects the abuse of a child or an elderly or otherwise dependent adult, or if they are legally forced to by court order. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed with a client before their first session.
