Hey there! Thank you for being here. I work with high-performing Asian Americans and LGBTQ+ folx who struggle with anxiety. I understand that struggling with anxiety is incredibly exhausting. Even though your career may be thriving on the outside, underneath those accomplishments, you might be feeling an overwhelming pressure to constantly do more, work more, and be more. The burden of expectations, responsibilities, and chronic stress can be a lot to handle. Overthinking is keeping you up at night, and you might be noticing a bubbling resentment towards loved ones.

My prominent specialty is treating trauma and PTSD symptoms (Posttraumatic Stress Disorder). Each person's traumatic experience is unique to the individual due to many factors such as relationships, personality, coping skills, strengths, risk factors, and perception on life can influence how a person manages their trauma. I completed my doctorate degree by doing extensive research on trauma-related resiliency factors amongst those who have been through child abuse, as well as years of clinical experience working with trauma victims. Shame/guilt issues is a significant focus of the trauma work I do in improving a client's resilience.

Do you keep assisting others before securing your own oxygen mask? My clients are emerging professionals, high-achievers, leaders, people-pleasers, and perfectionists who tend to be successful in their professional lives but struggle in their personal relationships. While on the outside they seem to have it all together, inside they are plagued by guilt, shame, fear, and self-doubt. Sound familiar? In a culture that rewards perfectionism over genuineness, it’s no wonder so many struggle. My purpose is to correct this imbalance by empowering you to appreciate your humanity and embrace your authenticity.

Sometimes it can be really challenging to make time for ourselves and for our mental health. For some of us, it's even more difficult when our identities and culture held no space for our feelings or emotions. We may have had to put up with crossed boundaries, invalidated feelings, unrealistic expectations, and conditional love that depended on how much we have accomplished. Those difficult and maybe even traumatic experiences that we, and our families, have lived through may have been written off as "this is just how things are." Although we may want to rest and pause, we instead might begin to feel shame or guilt for doing so.

Therapy is an opportunity for growth and introspection. It is a way to learn how external and internal worlds intertwine to produce thoughts and behaviors that are either already conducive to a healthy, productive life—or could be improved upon. You don’t have to be in a crisis to come to therapy. Preventative care is just as important. My aim is to support you as you navigate the challenges life throws at you including fear and anxiety, interpersonal relationship discord, stresses of professional life, and unresolved conflict from childhood.

Many people seek therapy because they feel stuck, they need help recognizing and removing the road blocks so they can create the lives and relationships they want. I work collaboratively with my clients to do just that, to help them better understand themselves and their struggles so they are free to build the lives they want.

I work from a perspective that is relational and psychodynamic (paying attention to dynamics between therapist and client as well as the client's personal history).
I specialize in working with individuals. I have a particular interest in helping people who are capable of functioning well, but who suffer from depression, anxiety, or relationship issues. I work with individuals who engage in self-defeating patterns who want support negotiating life transitions. I am invested in providing compassionate support for my clients around relationships, job, and family issues. I work with people who are integrating beneficial and challenging psychedelic experiences. I believe therapy is like going to the gym for your mind. Together we will build your resilience to roll with life's ups and downs.

What if one session could make all the difference? You might have tried therapy before but felt like it was focused just on “coping”...not on actually getting to the root of the issue. You can't seem to shake the lingering feeling that, no matter what, you're just not good enough. You’re ready to go deep and put your anxiety, depression, trauma, and triggers to rest for good. Brainspotting (BSP) and Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) offer fast, gentle, and highly effective relief, without the need to talk about your problems in detail. It’s time to move past the triggers and patterns that have been holding you back far too long.

Coming from a mixed background is incredible! But sometimes it can feel like you are not enough or you’re doing too much at the same. damn. time! No matter what you do, someone isn’t going to like it. It's as if all your different parts are kept separate and it's hard to feel like anyone can see or know the whole you. This feeling keeps you closed off from others - and yourself. You’re constantly regulating yourself and “acting right” but that shit is painful. You don’t ever feel fully free.

Relational Therapists

How does relational therapy work?

Relational therapy was developed by psychologist Jean Miller, whose ideas stressed that having strong connections with others encourages better health and well-being when compared with a lonely existence. Conversely, poor interpersonal relationships do not foster growth and learning. Relational therapy also encourages trust in others and patience with others, along with better communication and less conflict.

Is relational therapy evidence-based?

Relational therapy is not well-studied, and it may not be as effective in treating certain mental health conditions when compared with evidence-based treatments like cognitive behavioral or acceptance and commitment therapy. However, relational therapy uses techniques found in cognitive behavioral therapy as well as psychodynamic therapy, which are both well-studied with empirical research.

How long are people typically in relational therapy?

Clients may see improvement after a few weeks or months of therapy. Like cognitive behavioral therapy, relational therapy can reduce symptoms within 10 to 20 weeks, at 45 to 50 minutes once a week. But like any type of therapy, improvement depends on the person and the severity of the problem.

Does relational therapy work?

While no therapy type will work for everyone, some evidence suggests that this therapy can be effective. Relational therapy can help a person manage problematic relationships as well as the mental health conditions that accompany difficult relationships like depression or anxiety. This therapy type may offer benefits that are hard to measure but can be just as valuable—including feelings of higher self-worth or healthier connections with others.
