Therapy helps you craft a healthy relationship with yourself and others, and supports meaningful life choices. My clients struggle with issues such as PTSD, depression, anxiety, loneliness, relationship challenges, questions around life direction, and personal identity. Often they report feeling "stuck," frustrated in their ability to change or move forward in their lives. As a therapist, I like to work collaboratively with clients to support and strengthen what is already working and to bring insight to areas that need more attention. With compassion and kindness, my aim is to help my clients gain coping skills that foster greater well-being and help manage difficult feelings.

If your child has experienced trauma & dissociation, they may have trouble managing their feelings, communicating their needs, or be using challenging behaviors. The world can feel scary to the traumatized child, so it's hard for them to communicate. They often cope in ways that were the best solution during the trauma, but no longer fit current circumstances, and which seem confusing or destructive. I see it as my job to help your child explore their inner world, so, through the language of play, they can learn how to express emotions, solve problems, & get needs met in healthy ways that fit the present!

My training and experience includes healing trauma in adults, children and teens.
Welcome to my practice. I am a heart-centered therapist who works collaboratively with you. This work supports you in finding the roots of self- limiting beliefs and relationship patterns, and provides tools and techniques for healing, which gives way to inner clarity and freedom. When you are connected to your inner wisdom and intelligence, your life becomes healthy and grounded, relationships are more intimate and loving, and quality of life becomes richer. I use a holistic body-heart-and soul approach with those who are committed to growth and healing.

I have a passion for supporting LGBTQ+ and particularly Trans and Non-Binary adults and adolescents. My approach is rooted in the belief that you are you who you say you are, and if you're still exploring, we can be curious together in discovering your authentic self. Exploring identities like gender and sexuality may be a focus, and we can also work on goals like coping with symptoms of depression and anxiety, managing PTSD symptoms, and embracing what makes you uniquely you. Many of my clients identify as neurodiverse, which can can add an additional layer of stress in a world designed for "neurotypical" folks.

I work primarily with trauma survivors: people who have gone through experiences that were too painful, shameful, frightening, or confusing to put into words at the moment those experiences occurred. You were or are alone in an unbearable situation. It wasn’t or isn't safe to talk about what you were going through. Those painful events might have happened yesterday, or maybe twenty years ago – but the bad feelings have never left you. One day you decide it’s time to figure out what happened, and how to cope, and how to build a life of meaning and purpose. I hope that day is today. I believe I can help you.

I provide contemporary psychoanalytic psychotherapy, focusing on individuals grappling with anxiety, depression, and relationship challenges, and with an emphasis on queer, trans and non-binary experiences. My approach integrates a keen understanding of queer and gender issues, recognizing the unique challenges faced by LGBTQ+ individuals in these contexts. I believe that our psychological symptoms are deeply connected to our early experiences, family histories, and the broader societal systems we inhabit, including those related to race and gender identity, class, and sexual orientation. I also offer EMDR for trauma and phobias.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
