I am accepting new remote clients in CA & MA. People may find themselves in therapy when their usual ways of coping are no longer working and they feel out of touch with how to move forward. My goal is to help my clients discover new experiences of themselves and the world around them, so that they are better equipped to tackle life stressors and setbacks when they arise. My work is predominantly with emerging adults and adults ages 18-45, going through life transitions, identify re-formation, and decision making around career, relationship, adjustment to parenthood, and values-driven self-inquiry.

Mystical stories and poems are good vehicles to find and communicate the deeper meanings of our life, one of the essential vehicles for the expression of love and truth.
I have been working as a therapist/social worker with adults, children, and families since 1993. While I have been finding my own true self through Western psychotherapy, I began my journey on a Mystical Path; studying both Western psychology and Eastern Mystical Path, experiencing them, I came to integrate these two schools, incorporating both the Western and Eastern psychotherapy into my therapeutic work. In my practice, I use mystical stories, poems, and movements, when necessary.

My clinical work is Somatic and Psychodynamic (providing lasting resolution of body, mind and relational distress). It's really not all in your head! A 'resting potential' is our ideal state most likely to result in survival (success). You will learn to orient, explore and engage life to achieve this state. Together we will explore your experiences, identify patterns and realize behaviors may be symptoms not character. Life events addressed but not limited to include: trauma, anxiety, depression, PTSD. co-occurring disorders, substance use disorders (SUD), relationship, grief, employment issues, perfectionism and life purpose.

My approach involves listening carefully and being fully present with you and your circumstances within the context of your life.
When choosing a therapist, experience matters. As a seasoned psychotherapist, scholar, and consultant with substantial training, I know there is no set formula for you and your situation. My holistic approach includes attention to your unique circumstance and goals including emotional, spiritual, and psychological health from a mind, body, spirit, perspective. There is no substitute for working with a professional who is fully attentive and present to what you are bringing to the experience, whom you can trust in helping you meet your goals and enhance your life quality.

We discuss what has been happening in your life and what you hope to change.
I'm Sheila Henry, LMFT and I have been practicing for over 25 years. I am passionate about helping you remove obstacles standing in your way so that you can lead the life you desire. I focus on depression, anxiety, and loneliness. My passion is to help single individuals overcome the barriers to building meaningful, healthy relationships. Do you believe the events of 2020 and beyond have shaped our current collective experience? I believe so and if you do as well maybe this is a time to start the work around enhancing mood, being less stressed, and improving interpersonal relationships. Therapy can be the first step in identifying goals and taking care of needs that may have been neglected during the pandemic and possibly throughout your life. Are you living your best possible life? If so, maybe there are a few small things that are requiring some minor adjustments and if not lets start on this journey together to the first day to the best days of your life.

I firmly believe that whatever struggles you are facing at this time in life, you have been doing your best to manage a good life, all things considered.
Few of us make it through childhood without having experienced trauma of one form or another. Often times, the adaptations that we make in order to best survive early life challenges, lead to patterns of belief and action which get in the way of us finding freedom, happiness, and fulfillment as adolescents and adults. Every person deserves an opportunity to grow to their greatest potential. Therapy is a facilitated process of increasing awareness of obstacles to growth and supporting transformation.

My extensive work with trauma, grief, and loss has earned worldwide attention spanning across four decades. Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and International Certified Life Coach, I work with individuals, families, and groups to transform mental and emotional challenges into experiences of thriving health and well-being. My early career defining work began in the 80’s alongside John Bradshaw and focused on addiction, recovery, and codependency. Together with a team of cutting-edge psychotherapists, I developed groundbreaking techniques for understanding trauma: when it starts, how it affects the brain, and how to heal.

Life Coaching Therapists

What can I expect from life coaching?

Clients and coaches will typically start by identifying the problem area(s) that the client hopes to address—then, the coach will help the client brainstorm potential solutions and explore concrete techniques to help the client attain their goals. Coaching is typically short-term and focused on finding solutions in the here and now, rather than exploring a client’s past. In addition to strategies aimed at the client’s specific concerns, coaches may encourage general stress management techniques such as meditation.

Can a life coach help treat anxiety?

Because the majority of life coaches are not licensed clinicians, they are not qualified to diagnose or treat anxiety. Anyone struggling with anxiety or another mental health condition should seek help from a licensed mental health practitioner. However, some coaching clients who struggle with subclinical anxiety report that working with their coach on other problems—such as career dissatisfaction or unhealthy habits—has a positive effect on their anxiety.

Can life coaching be done online?

Yes. While life coaching often happens in person, many coaches conduct sessions over the phone or via online platforms such as Zoom or Skype. Because life coaches are not subject to local licensing regulations in the same way that therapists are, they are able to see clients who live in other locations.

How long does life coaching last?

Life coaching tends to be a shorter-term process than therapy, though it does not always unfold over a specific period of time and is instead based on the coach’s or the client’s preferences. Coaching often takes place over three to 12 months but may be shorter or longer if necessary.
