Not accepting new clients
I've worked with clients struggling with depression, anxiety, trauma, perfectionism, Autism, LGBTQIA+ issues, and more.
Do you sometimes feel overwhelmed by life? Do you struggle with self-prioritization, work-life balance, or are questioning your gender identity or sexuality? Whether you are a teen or an adult, you’re not alone. Perhaps you need space to freely express yourself. If this resonates with you, we can work together to process what you have gone through while increasing your coping skills for life’s hardships. Therapy can be hard; it's a growing experience. However, it's not uncommon that I share quite a few laughs with my clients along the way. Therapy doesn't have to be scary!

My approach is psychodynamic but flexible; exploring the relationship to the self in both past and present experiences. I believe acceptance, choice, flexibility and compassion are the key agents of change. I view life through the bittersweet lens of existentialism and am aligned with Buddhist principles. I am EMDR trained and fascinated by the human brain and somatic storage of trauma. I enjoy working with adolescents and individuals with a range of needs. I am LGBTQIA+ informed and delighted to support any and all life experiences. I appreciate the depths of the human experience and also love a good laugh when it's available.

I enjoy working with clients who are seeking a more authentic connection to self and their loved ones. My intention is for clients to free themselves of old beliefs and ways of being that keep them trapped in a sense of inadequacy and separateness. As we move through the continual challenges of life we acquire imprints from others and society that can suppress our deepest knowing. I work with clients who are ready and willing to dive deep into the unknown to rekindle their inner fire and walk this earth with purpose and belonging.

Do you or your child have problems academically or socially? If your brain is damaged, it's hard to learn new skills and function in the world. One way to correct these problems is with neurotherapy. I am an expert in neurotherpy and have been practicing in the field since 1987.

Everyone encounters some psychological stress. It doesn't have to be dramatic or pathological to have a major impact on the quality of your life. Sometimes, a difficult relationship can throw you off center. The far reaching effects of interpersonal conflict cannot be underestimated. To break unhealthy patterns, it's often necessary to seek help. At other times, you may face an existential crisis, searching for meaning and inner truth. Many high functioning clients suffer from Imposter Syndrome and want to understand why having it all doesn't add up to happiness. A stint of therapy can shed healing light on the mystery of life.

The body and mind hold trauma, anxiety, and sadness, as well as joy and unrecognized resources and strengths.
Just because you feel you can carry your trauma and pain alone, doesn't mean you have to. I gently and somatically help my clients understand patterns of behaviors and beliefs, which have kept them locked in lives and relationships they do not find satisfying or fulfilling. EMDR attachment focused therapy is my primary approach to working with clients. Many people want to change their patterns, but can't move beyond them to healthier ways of being in their lives, their relationships, and in their bodies. I work with clients to find their strengths, resources, and insights as we explore both their present lives and past experiences.

Anxiety Therapists

What are the most common treatments for anxiety?

Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?

The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?

Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?

Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
