We all only get one shot at life and for the past 25 years I have worked with youth and adults to help them make their shot the best it can be. I have enjoyed working with people from a variety of backgrounds, ages 11 and older and serving adults. If you have experienced trauma as an adult or child, this is one of my areas of expertise. If you suffer with depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, managing your anger or are experiencing a major life change then my skill set may be a good match for your needs. If you are looking for short term therapy or require a longer-term intervention, I provide both.

My clients come to me experiencing difficulty finding overall wellness, fulfillment and/or happiness that could be a result of relational challenges, lowered self esteem, life transitions, anxiety, or stress regarding living authentically while creating the life they want.
Welcome to The Well! My name Is Annicia but most of my clients call me Nycee (knee-see). I am a LPC in the state of Georgia and I have over 5 years of experience in the mental health field working with many different populations. I specialize in working with people of color navigating whole wellness as it relates to them. A lot challenges with seeing growth come from the tendency to address the symptoms rather than addressing the source. I help clients find clarity via self exploration and uncovering uncomfortable truths. Here, clients see they have choices to live differently. I might be tough at times but I'm always tender.

While I work with all a wide variety of clients, many of my clients are experiencing anxiety and depression which is impacting their daily lives. I often find myself working with clients struggling with self esteem, relationship conflict, and lack of confidence. Also, because of my experience working in film and television, I take special interest in working with artists, and other creatives, who are having difficulty navigating life while pursuing their creative dreams.

Welcome! If you're reading this, chances are you're no stranger to the overwhelming weight of anxiety, the suffocating grip of self-doubt, or the relentless cycle of worry that seems to have taken over your life. You're not alone. I know all too well the feeling of anxiety creeping in at the most inconvenient times, leaving you paralyzed with fear and uncertainty. You may struggle with low self-esteem, constantly questioning your worth and capabilities, or perhaps you battle with imposter syndrome, feeling like a fraud in your own life. Some days, even the simplest tasks feel like climbing mountains.

Self Esteem Therapists

When should a person seek therapy for low self-esteem?

When self-esteem problems begin to disrupt the healthy daily functioning of an individual, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If a person finds that they are not engaging with friends for fear of being judged, not completing work assignments because they don’t think they’re capable, or not finding romantic love because they don’t feel they’re worthy of it, a therapist may be able to help.

What are the signs of low self-esteem?

Low self-esteem is a common issue that can affect a person's mental and emotional well-being. Some common signs of low self-esteem include negative self-talk, perfectionism, social anxiety, difficulty making decisions, an inability to set boundaries, people-pleasing, and others. A lack of belief in oneself or one’s abilities and a feeling of not being worthy or deserving underlie most of these characteristics.

What causes low self-esteem?

Feelings of low self-worth can begin in childhood or adulthood. Being raised by a highly critical parent or growing up feeling constant disapproval can stay with a person well into adulthood. Specific issues in adulthood may also be a cause of low self-esteem. An unhappy relationship, a dysfunctional work or school experience can impact a person’s feelings of self-worth.

How can therapy improve self-esteem?

Therapists can help identify negative thought patterns that keep the client stuck in a loop of destructive self-talk and develop coping skills to change the voice in their head. A therapist can help with goal-setting, so that clients are better able to stay on task and build confidence from successfully completing work they’re proud of. Coaching a client on how to better communicate can improve relationships. These skills can result in someone with low self-esteem feeling empowered and living with less fear.
