Las personas acuden a la terapia porque quieren sentirse mejor, así de simple. Pero ¿qué significa eso? ¿Qué sucede cuando la "terapia de conversación" y las palabras no son suficientes? A veces podemos entender la fuente de nuestros problemas, pero en realidad no nos sentimos mejor. La base de la terapia somática es que incorpora y une su cuerpo y mente. Entonces, en lugar de decir "¿qué pasó?" O "¿cómo te hace sentir eso?", podría preguntar "cuando sientes alegría, ¿qué notas en tu cuerpo?". Un nivel completamente diferente de cambio y curación es posible. Mi trabajo se basa en mi entrenamiento en la Experiencia Somática (SE).

En mis años de trabajo en salud mental en la comunidad de Ohio y, más recientemente, como terapeuta de trauma, he aprendido que el elemento que nos impulsa a cambiar nuestras vidas tiene mucho que ver con la conexión que podemos construir con un terapeuta. I enjoy working with adults who have an interest in addressing mental health issues, including struggles with addictions. I also love to work with young people, ages 11 to 17. It is very rewarding to work toward a goal with a client and assist them in realizing their full potential. I have been fortunate to work with many types of individuals, such as those who want to deal with short-term or long-term problems. I am also bilingual in Spanish. Often people come to therapy because they want to solve an issue they have been struggling with for a long time, or sometimes it is something urgent that just suddenly arises.

It is my pleasure and privilege to engage clients one-to-one to explore patterns and identify desired changes. Typical areas of concern are emotional well-being, managing stress, relationship or family issues, and making desired changes in behavior. My goals are to assist individuals in the areas of 1) Decision-making, 2) Developing and implementing coping skills, 3) Identifying and using internal and external resources, and 4) Self-Empowerment and Acceptance.

People come to counseling because they want something to be different in their lives. Some want to better understand themselves and their families. Others are seeking support as they cope with stressful situations at home and work, life transitions, or a significant loss. Often, I assist my clients to learn to manage difficult emotions or disruptive symptoms. Together, we explore what is in the way of having a fuller life and satisfying relationships.

My specialties include childhood problems with toileting, sleep, emotional and behavioral adjustment and divorce. I work individually with adults and couples, particularly with relationship issues and divorce. I provide mediation/parenting coordination for high conflict parents. The impact of divorce and death on the family is particularly painful for children and for parents who are trying to navigate their own survival.

As a mental health provider I assist children, adolescents, and adults experiencing mental health symptoms. I engage, assess, diagnose, and apply behavioral theories to develop an effective treatment plan. During psychotherapy we address their unique situation, such as personal problems involving mental health, ADHD, Anxiety, Depression, Suicidal Ideation, and/or Trauma, to reduce the symptoms of mental health.
