Therapy can help you enhance your awareness of how your unrealistic or negative beliefs and thinking patterns about yourself and others undermine the quality of your life. Therapy can help you change those dysfunctional thoughts and beliefs. These changes in thinking will go hand-in-hand with improvements in your moods, decisions, quality of your relationships, and the quality of your life. Therapy can help you overcome grief and loss, navigate major changes and life stages, enhance motivation, improve coping skills for dealing with stress, anxiety, and fear, and learn to deal with anger, rage, frustration, and disappointment more constructively.

No one is exempt from depression, grief, anxiety or other things that influence our mental, physical, emotional and social well-being.
Sometimes we find ourselves at a place where we need to start afresh. Each day presents an opportunity to be “reborn.” I will help you create a plan that is right for you and the journey you are on. Your life should reflect the dreams, visions, goals and aspirations you desire. I will help you work through and process life’s unexpected and unplanned challenges.

Change and loss are a constant.
It is brave and difficult to reach out for help. I provide a welcoming space for you as a compassionate listener. Using an eclectic style combining a number of modalities we discover what works for you. I listen and get to know you; both your dreams and your struggles. You may feel limited by and stuck in repeating patterns that are not working anymore. It is hard to find the way when pain clouds your every day. Sometimes it is helpful to start here; right where you are. I find that the here and the now are full of wisdom if we learn to listen.

I love working with individuals to remove blocks that are keeping them from living the life they imagined. There is no one size fits all approach to therapy; your story and collection of struggles are unique to you. With every twist and turn of life's happenings come the fear of uncertainty, grieving the loss of what once was, and even the excitement of what's to come.

I have been a Therapist for 27 years. Working with people who need and want to change is powerful. Most people have something they would like to change or heal from. Wanting or needing change does not make it happen, you have to work at it. Clients often come to therapy at a loss of what to do next and thats where the process begins. That's what therapy is all about. Finding the right therapist is critical to change and healing. I encourage you to call me.

In private practice, some of the challenges I have helped clients deal with include grief, low self-esteem, family conflicts, difficult child custody proceedings, caregiver guilt and stress and the dealing with the daily challenges of living with a variety of mental disorders.
Our lives are full of obstacles that that can prevent us from living life to it's fullest. Some obstacles we seem to bring upon ourselves while others are thrust upon us. Overcoming these obstacles can be difficult and sometimes painful. I see my role, as a therapist, as helping individuals identify the thoughts and emotions connected to life's challenges and dealing with them in a way which promotes understanding, growth and healing.

Grief Therapists

How long does therapy take for grief?

There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.

When should you seek therapy for grief?

Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.

Can grief be managed without therapy?

Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.

What happens if grief is left untreated?

Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
