There are ways to manage perinatal mental health, stress, anxiety, grief, loss, depression, or just day-to-day life, and I want to help you discover and explore simple ways to start living instead of just surviving.
Spiraling into negative thoughts is a daily struggle. Often, you feel yourself unraveling and the mask to which you cling to chips away little by little. You may have felt ok from time to time or just feel numb. You might feel overwhelmed with your other responsibilities or daily to-do list, or you might even forget what day of the week it is. This might be one of the hardest times for you because you know you need to get better but don't where to begin. The thought of self-care just feels exhausting, like a waste of time, or even a selfish desire.

I am passionate about helping women with trauma, infertility, miscarriages, loss, pregnancy, postpartum mood and anxiety disorders, and/or adjusting to motherhood.
Struggling with anxiety impacts your entire existence as a woman. Worst case scenarios can consume your thoughts, making it almost impossible to find moments of peace or joy in your day. Difficult transitions in life can cause so many changes, emotionally and physically, that make you feel like you have lost a part of yourself along the way. With therapy, it is possible to heal from past hurts and build a life free of constant panic and intrusive thoughts. Imagine being able to enjoy present moments, find realistic coping strategies that fit into your busy life and build a life filled with confidence, joy, and peace.

Life can be a bumpy road. The path we take can lead us to happiness or to despair. Making a wrong turn, not knowing which way to go or reaching what seems like a dead end is not the end of your journey. Sometimes we all need help getting to where we want to be. As a therapist, I help make your journey a more positive one. Grief or trauma can hinder you from moving forward. The loss of a loved one, job, relationship, pregnancy or even your life before illness or change can cause feelings of grief. Counseling helps work through the pain of your trauma or loss to experience joy again. The life you want is within reach.

The pressure to quickly achieve your goals have you overwhelmed. A few thoughts flow in and out: "I'm a failure", "I'm not enough", "everyone is judging me". You attempt by starting the day with enthusiasm. Yet, soon find yourself shifting from forced enthusiasm to doubt, shame, and restlessness. Your fatigue makes seemingly impossible to think clearly or address responsibilities. As time passes, you have sleepless nights, meaningless relationships, and self-doubt. Overthinking steals the slightest calm you may have had. Forcing yourself to 'do better', leaving no room to learn who you truly want to be.

What are the most effective ways to address pregnancy, prenatal, and postpartum concerns?
The most effective way to address pregnancy, prenatal, and postpartum concerns is by finding a therapist who has prior experience helping other patients overcome the challenge being faced. For example, a marriage and family therapist may have experience helping couples adjust to their new relationship dynamic. An anxiety specialist may have experience helping with phobias or illness anxiety related to the child’s health. A depression specialist may have experience treating postpartum depression.
When should I seek treatment for prenatal or postpartum concerns?
Pregnancy and the postpartum period involve intense physical and mental changes; a degree of upset and instability is normal. However, if these changes impair daily functioning, it may be time to seek help. This distinction is pertinent for postpartum depression: A period of teariness, irritability, and distress is difficult but normal in the one to two weeks after childbirth (sometimes called the “baby blues.”) But if feelings of sadness and hopelessness persist beyond that period, the person should seek treatment.
How do I manage worries during pregnancy or the postnatal period?
A therapist can help patients develop the tools they need to manage anxieties during or after pregnancy. Cognitive behavioral therapy can help people identify and reframe harmful patterns of thought, and change their behaviors. Other techniques and skills can allow people to develop acceptance, psychological flexibility, self-compassion, communication skills, and more.
Are there specific medications for postpartum depression?
In 2019, the FDA approved the first medication designed to treat postpartum depression. The medication is called brexanolone and is delivered intravenously by a medical professional over the course of a few days. However, typical antidepressants, which are more accessible, can also treat postpartum depression. The disorder is often best treated through a combination of medication and therapy.
